Thread: Which actual Mainboard / CPU with i3 / i5 / i7 LGA 1155 socket shall I buy ?

I use IPC 10.5. on the Lifebook e8110 with core 2 duo intel ICH7 chipset with good success.
Now I want to buy a Mainboard with a new i3 / i5 / i7 cpu. Socket LGA 1155
- can I also use the G850 / G620 CPU ?
- which Mainboard is most easy to install making the important devices running ?

The core2duos with ICH7 were great machines.

I got one Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3-B3 and one Asus P8H67 H67 here. Both with the Core i5-2400 and 8 GB Ram
I will try the Geforce 9600 GT PNY graphic card first.

I am not sure about the version I should try and wich kexts I'll need.
But I'll let you know, howto, if I can make them work.

8 GB DDR3 RAM

The Asus P8H67 does not boot - it ends up at "still waiting for root device"
using the USB Stick 10.7 Method
using any boot flag like -v -x makes no difference.
I will write if I had any success. Perhaps I'll try using 10.6.8
any install hints ?
