Default USB ports stop working right after installation

    Good evening all
I am having a hard time trying to figure out how to make the USB ports work. Right after installing the os x snow leopard 10.6.3 retail they seem to be working properly, but as soon I install the legacy_kernel-10.3.0.pkg. they stop working, but the audio and video drivers work normally. What should I do?
    Thanks a lot!

try downloading the lastest version of chameleon bootloader, once installed look for your com.apple.boot.plist located in your extra folder and add this string.

    Code:
    <key>USBBusFix</key>
     <string>Yes</string>
    Restart and pray. Good Luck!

Thank you man! I tried that and the computer didn't restart ( maybe I didn't pray hard enough!). What if I reinstall snow again and right after install chameleon, do you thing it will work? Should I add the string code on the com.apple.boot.plist in the beginning or in the end? Is it necessary for me to post my hardware config?

Installation method used was thru hackboot V5 cd, after the initialization I changed to the original snow cd and I followed the regular installation. Then I installed chameleon V20RC5R629 and also the extra fold of the boot cd. Finally I restarted the PC and it seemed to be working. So I installed the kext PS2, audio and video. When I reinstalled it one more time, the USB ports and the mouse in the PS2 port worked properlly, but the audio and video didn't. They just work when I install legacy_kernel-10.3.0.pkg, but then the two USB back ports stop working, and that is the point: I can't put everything to work together...

the first thing is that you don't need the legacy kernel because your CPU can run vanilla kernel (native os x kernel) and try a better retail installation method like Nawcom ModUSB. once installed use dsdt auto patcher to generate the dsdt to your board.

Thanks a lot! Sorry, but where can I get the vanilla kernel, is it on the retail snow leopard 10.6.3 cd and will my video board (NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT) run properlly with it? Also, after generating the dsdt, where should I store it? I have used once the dsdt, it was created a file on desktop and I didn't know what to do next. Would you mind giving me the dsdt instructions, I would appreciate so much, that would help me a lot. Do you think I should reinstall the snow leopard again? Because there might be some kext in conflict on the present installation.
If I were to reinstall snow, is it correct to install o chameleon and the extra fold I mentioned previously, or do you have a better suggestion?

    1. A vanilla kernel its the Mac OS X native kernel, this means the one that install with the retail dvd and updates.
    2. the geforce 7300 gt probably will work with graphics enabler or Nvenabler.kext
    3. after creating the DSDT you should put it in /Extra , chameleon will load it each time you boot.

i suggest you that use the Nawcom Modusb method. its the most easy and clean way to install snow leopard. and remember google its you friend.

Thanks a lot, man! I've already tested the dstd and the USB ports worked properly. Now, I will reinstall snow again and follow all the steps you have sent me, to check if the installation process will be easier. If you don't mind, I would like to request one more help. The application preview doesn't work when I open files with png and jpg extensions, but pdf does. When I open the application DVD palyer.app I get this message: error [-70017]. If you vould help me, that would be great, can't thank you enough! From your tips ,y snow is getting better and better!
