Question Installing on a ASUS N53SV

    Hello,

A few years back I had OSx86 10.5 on my pc (another one) but it didn't did it very well on that pc, so I deleted it and payed not much attention to OSx86 anymore.
But since I've got my new laptop, a ASUS N53SV-SZ404V, I'd like to have OSx on my laptop. The only problem is, because there is so much info (and via google I find only "old" posts and info) I just don't know where to start.. And that's not the only problem, I also got a Sandy Bridge I7 and I read that optimus isn't working?

    My specs:
    CPU: Intel Core i7 2630QM
    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT540M
    Memory: 6GB DDR3 @ 1333 Mhz
    Wireless network: Atheros AR9002WN-1NG
    HDD: 750 GB @ 7200RPM
    Did I forget something important?

So, can you guys help me where to start? Use something like MyHack, or a distribution?

Just make a bootable USB with mawcom USB and then select legacy kernel? Does Optimus work then? 'cause the battery life is horrible when it's only using the GT540M...

So, I need to download the "MacBookPro8,1 / Core i SandyBridge Mobile" file, HackBoot V6, Chameleon, DSDT-autopatcher and the 1.6.7 combo-update?
Will the system be able to use Sandy Bridge then? Like Optimus?

Yes, follow exactly this guide, and if you have any issue, you can post in the same Forum of the guide...

Ok, I got it up and running now! I booted via ModUSB, did Combo Update 10.6.7 and then MultiBeast. WiFi and Sound were not working, but with the right modified kexts I got it
But I still have one problem, I kinda feel it's slow, while boot I have a cpus=4, but still kinda slow..
Another problem, I can't set HD resolution, when I set Graphics Mode = 1920x1080x32 I get as resolution 1024x1280.. Is this because it maybe uses the Intel GPU? Because I can't find GT540M kexts..

So can somebody help me with this?
