Default Install fine, bootloader not working

so I installed everything just fine but the bootloader in the AMD tutorial did not work for me. I downloaded the newest version which was uploaded yesterday, installed it, but it still does not work.

I am on 1.6.3 now, and I have also Windows 7 and Ubuntu installed, so when I don't boot from CD, I get to the "standard" Windows-Startup-Manager" where i can chose between Windows7 and Ubuntu... anyone a hint how to fix this?

    thxx in advance

When you mean not work you mean what ???

You can`t boot anyone of your OS`s or only OS X ???

If only OS X, when you boot in Verbose Mode what you see ???

I mean the following: I followed the AMD tutorial step by step. After the install finished, my computer rebooted, I put in the ModCD and started OSX. Everything was fine. The next step in the tutorial is to install the bootloader. I downloaded and installed the file (Chameleon 2 RC5 Installer (r693)) and the guide said it can now boot without the ModCD, but it didnt.. I downloaded and installed the newly updated Chameleon 2 RC5 (r1200) [VS] and intalled that. Didn't work either.

When I start my PC NORMALLY I get to the Windows-Startup-Manager where I can chose to start Windows7 and Ubuntu (which works both fine!). I can only boot into OSX using the ModCD.

I now installed 10.6.8 from 1.6.3 without a problem (installed the legacy kernel as well), but it didnt help. And because the bootloader does not work, my graphics (ATI Radeon 57xx) dont work, as the GraphicsEnabler isnt working too.

Hope that clears it up.. I can boot in every OS (win7, ubuntu, OSX) but not with the bootloader, I can either boot windows or ubuntu via the standard windows-startup-manager, OR using the ModCD to boot into OSX.. I didn't install any kernel additionally so far, as I feel I want to make the boot work first...

Boot with ModCD and run this command in a terminal window...

    Code:
    diskutil list
Copy the output or take a picture and place here...

when I start the PC I go straight to the windows-startup-manager to chose from Windows or Ubuntu.. only when I set my PC to boot from CD (the ModCD) i can boot into OSX.. there is no error, because I don't think chameleon even "starts"...

Or what do you mean by "try to boot from chameleon"? I installed the bootmanager and restartet, but nothing happens.. what do I have to do besides that??? by the way I installed OSX on a external HDD, maybe something to do with that? (Of course its plugged in when I start the PC)

mybe I have to install a bootmanager in windows???

You install chameleon on the External HD ???

If yes, try booting directly from the USB device...

I completely reinstalled everything, wiped my complete installation and now I have only Mac OS X SL on my PC Most things work fine but I have some questions left:

    Screenshot: screen_1.jpg

    1) The graphicsEnablet works, I have a resolution of 1680x1050, but how do I know my GPU is completely installed with all features? SystemProfiler shows I have a HD 5000 model, 1024MB VRAM etc. is there some kind of test I can do, or am I being paranoid?

    2) Mac OS actually "thinks" I have a mac mini (see screenshot) and recognizes I have 4GB RAM, but it shows that it only has a clock of 800 Mhz and is DDR2, while it's actually 1033 (or 1066?) DDR3.. how can I fix that..?

    3) I now have 10.6.8 installed and SoftwareUpdate shows no further updates are available. So it seems I'm up to date, but how do I know which coming updates (minor fixes) I can safely install?

    4) The sound is ok but it cracks and creaks sometime, how to fix it? I use the VoodooHDA... I tweaked some options in VoodooHDA (enabled SSE2 and Enhance Stereo) but it's still cracking...

    5) What is the best way to save my pc now so I can recover when something isnt working? Simply with timemachine? But what if I mess the system up so that i cannot reboot into OSX?

    THX for all your help!

I don't have sure if you will get full QE/CI with this controller, but you can made the tests below...

Transparent Menubar > If yes you have QE/CI

Try to run DVDPlayer.app > If run you have QE/CI

Try to run FrontRow.app > If run you have QE/CI

Open Dashboard.app and drag a new Widget > If you see wather effect you have QE/CI

You can do all Software Updates you want less OS X version Updates that is better if you download always from
    the Apple website...

You can try another version from here > Downloads - voodoohda - High Definition Audio (HDA) driver for Mac OS X - Google Project Hosting

Or igf you know the right controller for your Audio device (like ALC888, ALC889, etc..) search here at kexts.com
