    I am trying to see if I can make this Dell Inspiron N5040laptop into a Hackintosh, I noticed Dell has its own wifi card on their soecs, but is an Atheros...


    Any suggestions...?

    I figured out it has that dreaded AR9285 Wireless network card and the RTL8101E/RTL8102E Pci express fast ethernet card.





    I got my wifi card working great on first attempt I used IO80211Family.kext.zip and run kext utility with no problem.

    I am having several issues, I can't get the LAN card installed , its the RTL8101E/RTL8102E pci express fast ethernet, I tried the RTL1000 kext and it lit up in yellow, but for some reason I could not configure it. (it gave itself a self addressed IP number)

    When I tried installing multibeast, I get a black boot screen that says:

    boot0: GPT
    boot0: test
    boot0: test
    boot0: GPT
    boot0: test
    boot0: test
    boot0: error

    Can some one please give me a tutorial where I can install a bootloader without running multibeast?

    I went there noname and his boatloader program looks nothing like mine.

    I tried install Chameleon again, same results.

    I have tried to install different versions of bootloaders to this hackintosh and I still get a black screen with boot error message, anyone have any suggestions for a possible fix...?

    Anyone know what mouse and trackpad kext is best suited for this laptop.

    I tried the voodoPS2 and it was a no go.

    Hello Guys,

    I gave up and installed ubuntu and dressed it up like Snow Leopard.



    Everything works, Mouse pad, tracked pad, sleep, VGA.
