Thread: DARWIN x86 BLACK SCREEN WTF

Getting mad... I have installed iPC 10.5.8 onto my Acer Aspire (intel) successfully. 10.5 sucks. No applications are compatible... so what do i want to do? thats right, update to to snow leopard or even lion.

I have NO DISC DRIVE. fml.

I have a USB stick capable of installing bootable OSs onto.
I have done many OSX USB installs.
For some damn reason (excuse my language, as i am angry) no matter what distro/image i use, I end up installing and afterwords, I boot into the installed partition. I get the "darwin x86" prompt with a loading symbol beside it. (you all know what i'm talking about) and then the symbol just stops and darwinx86 prompt appears to be froze. Then It loads a black screen that won't go away....


CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE

Acer Apire - there are many of those...
The most easy way would be to beg, steal, or borrow a USB DVD drive and try with Nawcom´s.

Sure a install from thumb drive can be done, but if you have e.g. a Atom you will have to do all patches manually...

There is of course Netbookbootmaker/Netbookinstaller, maybe you can try those?

I am running in leopard right now. I just want to upgrade and none of my SL or Lion installs have worked... i get the black screen
