Could be, in the sense of booting from the netbookinstaller stick.
The bootloaders try to be as compatible as possible with Cpu settings, RAM etc.
If you boot from HDD a dual core cpu should be recognized all right.

Maybe you can ask the user "des" about his experiences?

I just got a new 9GB usb and now trying to restore from a DMG image instead of my physical Mac OS X Install DVD because I checked it and it seems it has some light scratches on some portions. However, it now says it will take 18 hours to restore.. o_O Lolwut.

Wow eighteen hours! I recall the remaining "one minute" with OS9 would already take ages.
Hope all goes well for you, not like some torrents with ETA ∞ (infinity).

Well, seems like it wasn't really 18 hours. I started it at around 9pm or 8pm last night and I actually fell asleep, now it's 25 minutes left. So I guess it's just a little over 10 hours. But still lol. I hope to high heavens that this works.

Okay, after trying out a bunch of things namely:
    • iBoot via USB
    • NetbookInstaller
    • myHack
    • a few others that I've forgotten

It seems my common problem in-between the attempts are the detection 2 cores. Almost all of them say that I need 2 cores and only 1 was detected. I'm pretty sure Intel Atom N570 has 2 cores. I'm quite perplexed right now. It seems I need to fix the 2 core issue first before being able to continue at all.

    EDIT:
Nice! I was finally able to make it boot. However, when I got to the language selection, nothing moves. I have 3 theories.

    Theory 1:
The keyboard is not being detected so no matter what I press on it doesn't seem to be recognized.

    Theory 2:
The trackpad is not being detected so no matter how I swipe my fingers, the displayed cursor doesn't move.

    Theory 3:
The netbook just froze that's why I can't do any interactions.

So, can anyone help me figure out which is the case?

    EDIT 2:
Scrap the other 2 theories. I tried plugging in a USB mouse and it worked! I'm now installing OS X Snow Leopard. I'll post back after installation. It says it will take 30 minutes to install.

    EDIT 3:
It seems to have stopped at installation on the "Time Remaining: About 29 minutes" part. I can move the mouse freely so I tried to click on the "Edit" menu on the top just to see if it actually hanged and now, the cursor is a spinning beach ball and the installation is still stuck at 29 minutes. Hmm. I wonder what could cause this.

    EDIT 4:
I forgot to mention that the loading bar doesn't seem to have any activity too. Awhile ago, I can tell that it is loading because it seems to have some kind of movement. Now, it doesn't have that same characteristics anymore. I can move the cursor just fine even if it still looks like a spinning beach ball. I think there is activity on the hard drive because if I place my palm and rest it on top of the keyboard of the netbook, I can feel a small vibration. I'm really tempted to force shut down this.

The installer can really take a very long time to sort things out.
If it still sits there after an hour or so without proceedings, I would think it failed.
I did my Eee setup with nawcom´s and it worked fine.
You will probably have to care about your sreen res. yourself in that case.

Hmm. I used myHack 2.1 (the latest) to prepare the thumbdrive for me. It's unexplainably faster than restoring it via Disk Utility too! Anyway, I got almost everything to work. The only issue I've been having are the AirPort, the ethernet, and it won't boot up without the USB. Other than that, the battery indicator, the trackpad, two-finger scrolling, two finger right click, bluetooth, sounds are working.

Can you throw in some ideas? Searching for "hackintosh netbook will not bootup without USB" returns a bunch of useless discussions not even related to what my problem is.

I forgot to mention that the webcam isn't getting detected by Photo Booth I think? When I open up Photo Booth, it's just a black screen but it's being seen as the 1.3 Webcam on the Camera menu on Photo Booth.

I haven't tested out the mic yet.

Also I've read about a patch to Intel GMA 3150 (which is what the netbook has) but I'd really want to make it work with the above issues first.

    Sounding good, your proceedings!
Check your devices with System Info.app to find out what kexts you may try.
With some tinkering, WLAN and Ethernet should be possible.
For booting from HDD, install a bootloader e.g. with Chimera 1.7.0.

Your graphics seems to be unsupported, if you can make it 1024x600, that will be as far as you can go.
IIRC meklort did some work on that problem to enable a native screen resolution at least.
Many features are not going to work due to the missing QE/CI, PhotoBooth is among those.
Third party software may be available for some issues:
Xee, Download Xee for Mac - Image viewer and browser. MacUpdate.com for viewing picts as replacement for Preview.
Maybe some camera software is out there too, it will be miss and hit, I´m afraid.

As soon as you have a half stable system, have a backup to USB with Carbon Copy Cloner and install a bootloader with Chimera on the backup drive too.

I'll have a look onto that after a few hours of sleep.

I've in fact, already installed a bootloader, however when I try to boot to the HDD without the USB, it just shows the following:
    Code:
    Boot0: GPT
    Boot0: test
    Boot0: test
    Boot0: GPT
    Boot0: test
    Boot0: test
    Boot0: Error

I already have 1024x768 resolution right after installation.

If someone comes up with a patch for GMA3150 (which I believe I've read somewhere to be taking place already), does that mean Photo Booth and company will work?

As for Preview, I'm quite shocked that Preview relies on QE/CI. I haven't tried opening an image though.

Does it really matter if it's Chimera? I think I'm currently using Chameleon 2?

For the bootloader, it shouldn´t matter much as long as you choose a recent version.
Framebuffer 1024x768 is quite nice and yes, its a bit queer to rely on hardware accelleration for many simple things,
including srennshots (Command-Shift-3). I had framebuffer video on my Eee and PhotoBooth was/is enabled by QE/CI.
