Default Snow Leopard 10.6.8 Fresh Install?

Hi all, I am trying to get a fresh install of Snow Leopard 10.6.8 onto an eMachines em355 netbook. It has:

    • Intel Atom N570
    • 1GB ram
    • 320gb HDD
    • 32-bit
    • 10.1" LCD
    • 6-cell battery

I have been scouring the web for a few weeks now without ever finding a clear way to achieve this. The farthest I could go was get a kernel panic at some point of my attempt while trying to get it to work. I don't know if I'm just looking at the wrong place but if anyone can please help me out, it would be really appreciated.

    Netbookinstaller maybe? Latest pre-release.
But dont expect to get the QE/CI beast working with your built in graphics.
Support requests by PM will remain unanswered, sorry.

Hmm. The latest pre-release that I can see (here) is NetbookInstaller 0.8.4pre. Would that suffice? I've noticed that it was released 12th of March 2010. However, I believe Snow Leopard 10.6.8 was only released as of late June or July 2011. I would give it a spin once I get everything set up again (disc image on the USB, etc) but theoretically, do you think it would work?

0.8.5 pre was just used for a Asus 1001px with GMA 3150. So I thought you might give it a shot.

If you want to dive into that, Nawcom made an Atom kernel for Lion. I made me a nice Lion Atom Kernel — nawcom's bitchblog
The N570 should offer 64bit support, but all those patches would have to be done manually.

Well I'm not too keen on getting to Lion yet since Snow Leopard does what I want. :P I'm copying the contents of the OS X DVD right now to my USB. It has been taking quite a while already. I just hope it works. Then I'll think about the upgrades.

Same for me about the Lion. Sure you meant "restore" to disk with DU, didnīt you?
    Good luck!

Yes. And it keeps failing, something about "Restore failure Could not restore - Cannot allocate memory" but I'm already using a 16gb storage medium. :/

Okay, I'm now trying to install it onto the netbook via USB however, it goes to kernel panic with the following:

Should have 2 Cores, but only found 1 for Die 0"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1456.1.25/osfmk/i386/cpu_threads.c:1108

I'm totally clueless how to fix this. :/

Some sticks fail. I had a 16GB, that was unusable too. Had it exchanged from the seller and the new one is working.
Just bad luck, I suppose. Bad chipdesign, faulty controller, who knows? Try another one, 8Gb should do.

Is it USB-dependent that it's detecting 1 core instead of 2?
