Default Total noob. Need help with Hackintosh build.

Hey guys, My brother is getting into filming(I am his cheif editor. Will probablly be working with final cut pro. That why I'm going with Mac) and I want to start programming for the iPhone. I am a PC person, and I don't want to overspend for overpriced prebuilt apple computers. I build my own computers.

I need to be able to use final cut pro, so I need a decent graphics card. My main problem is the installation. I have researched this stuff for 2 days, and I am still confused. I was initially going to buy the EFI-X, until I found out that it was a total scam. Now, when researching other bootloaders, there are Chameleon, Boot-132, iBoot, and some others. Which is the best for Snow Leopard? There is so much, I just cant figure out what.

And what is a Kext? Like from what I see, it is some file that allows the bootloader thing to use a certain piece of hardware.

So far, I am leaning towards a GTX 460 and an intel i5-760. I will be buying a SAMSUNG 1TB Hdd for OS X, and If I really have to, Ill buy another for windows (The problem isn't the Hard drive, its that I don't want to pay for another Windows licence). The PSU I'm getting is the Antec NEO ECO 620C. I am guessing that the RAM and DVD drive don't matter, so I am getting This Memory and this This DVD Drive. As for the case, I want something that looks at least a little like a mac. Of there are any G5 case replicas, that would be great. I am confsed on the motherboard compatibility, so I'll need some help on that.

Where can I buy snow leopard? Online, I only see upgrades from leopard.

    Thanks.

Chameleon is the best IMO (LOTS of options to correctly configure your hardware before OSX even loads) and it supports themes.
A Kext (Kernel Extension) is (in Windoze terms) kinda like a driver.
The upgrade IS the installation disc.

Most newer Gigabyte motherboards are compatible.

    Happy hacking.

Start here: Main Page - OSx86
You'll find all the needed information about supported HW there. Intel is always a good choice, since AMD is convertible to Mac with hacked OS X kernel only (Apple does not support it).

If you need a complete supported machine with out-of-the box hackintosh experience (in hackintoshing terms, which still means some tinkering around) try this: http://www.hackintosh.nl/content/237...-guide-v2.html
You are not forced to buy their machines, but they are nice enough to list all the components and provide an install DVD image, which works really good.
