Hello! I'm tryng to install mac os on my PC. But when boot starts, after few seconds i stuck on message "still waiting for root device". I have seen few solutions to this but i can't find anywhere solution for my motherboard. I have asus p5kSE. Does anyone have experience with this type of motherboard or know how to solve this problem.

    My full configuration is:

    Motherboard: Asus P5K SE
    Processor: DualCore Intel Pentium E2200
Graphic card: Gigabyte GeForce 8500 GT
    Memory: 2GB DDRII 800
Hard disk and DVD-rom are both sata

    Thanks in advance!

Go to your BIOS. When there, search for an option SATA MODE and set it to AHCI. Usually you can find that option somewhere in Integrated Peripherals.

my BIOS is amy and it doesn't have an ahci option. i've searched whole BIOS and i can't find anywhere ahci for sata. i can only change it to IDE or compatibility mode, but in both cases i have the same error.

i'm using 10.6.3 retail with empire efi v108 boot loader... i've tried also 10.6.6 version with cameleon bootloader but i'm gettin' the same error... i've tried to run mac OS with VMware workstation but my CPU doesn't support virtualization.

You'll really need AHCI to work. It is possible on this board, but unfortunately this requires some hacking with the BIOS.

Here's a great tutorial for doing so. I must warn you though, this is BIOS reflashing and you could screw things up if you do it wrong. So if you are really wanting to do so, please be careful.

no necessarily, if you just download iATKOS S3 v2 10.6.3 it should work without AHCI. You may need to select a special kernel with the install as well.

We don't support Distro installations here on Kexts.com for the fact that the system will run much more stabler when using a fully Snow Leopard installation (with a retail disc) and a bootcd.

Please, do not use distros. They're from the past and they won't give a stable system!

With what method do you receive this error? Distro or retail?
