Installation
OS X 10.7.1 installed in a separate 2.5” USB drive in GUID format
Several methods tried but none works! Bootloader CD followed by retail DVD always gets stuck on initial boot or loading IObluetooth kext. Eventually I use Xmove to write all the essential fiels onto a separate partition- the installer partition. Burn OS X Lion ESD.dmg onto a DVD and placed in DVD drive while running Xmove on a hackintosh running OS X 10.6.6.
Boot U31SD using an external DVD ROM loaded with rboot CD and choose installer partition from GUI banner.
After successfully installed, update to OS X 10.7.2
Install Chameleon 2.1 bootloader

and choose MacbookPro 8.1. Specify load SMbios.plist in preference pane
Let me know if there is any difference between MacbookPro 8.1 and 8.3!
DSDT extracted and compiled using dsdtse without modification and loaded while booting


Video
disable graphicenabler in chameleon preference pane
IntelHDgraphics 3000 enabled and you can choose resolution but no dual displays
QE and CI enabled after unchecking “Dashboard as space” in mission control
GT 520 M recognised as Nvidia video card with 512 MB memory (aty_init.kext installed) but does not work!

voodooPS2 works but boot in 32 mode only!
Google Lion compatible “appleps2nub+appleps2controller”

Battery
works using voodoBattery.kext and old AppleACIPplatform.kext

Reboot, shutdown and sleep
reboot OK!
shutdown OK but incomplete! You need to power off by pressing power key!
sleep does not work! Sleepenabler causes KP!
EVoReboor.kext does not seem to fix the problem!

It won't buzz while tuning up!

I've been trying installing Lion 10.7.3 on my Asus U31SD too but I've run into some issues I can't solve. My hardware specs are the same as the OP except I have a Core i5 2410M. I will post a list of what's working and what is not and my ideas on what is wrong and hopefully someone can help. When I've fixed as many of the issues as possible I will post a zip with all the necessary files to get these things working Important stuff will be marked with bold text. Here's the list:

Working:
Integrated Intel® GMA HD 3000 - Works but only with the Chimera bootloader. With Chameleon it doesn't but with Chameleon the touchpad works with multitouch. With Chimera it works but not with multitouch. Very odd... I successfully intalled Chameleon 2.1 r1819 but now it's exactly the same as with Chimera...

Ethernet Atheros AR8151 - Works with the method described above

Reboot

Audio and mic - Works as described by OP in his second post. No buzzing Haven't tested the mic but I assume it's working.

Battery - Works as described by OP

Closing the lid - Seems to be bringning the computer to sleep so that's good but of course sleep isn't working...

Partially working:
Wifi Atheros AR9002 - Can find networks but it only works with open networks. Doesn't work with WPA*-secured networks. Haven't tested WEP-secured networks.

TouchPad - Works with multitouch with the Chameleon bootloader (only 2-point multitouch but I think that is just max for the TouchPad). Multitouch doesn't work with the Chimera bootloader which is needed for the Intel Graphics.

Keyboard - Works fine but the Windows and Alt button are switched. This can probably be fixed with software. The Fn button works with brightness but there's no graphical indicator on the brightness level when turning up/down. Fn volume doesn't work. Possibly more but these are just the most important.

Not working:
Shutdown - Seems to power off but the light remains lit in the power button. I've tried the OPs method to get this fixed but I couldn't boot with his DSDT. I installed it with MultiBeast (UserDSDT) but got stuck right after the bluetooth errors when booting. I tried SpeedStepper too but that just failed.

Sleep - See shutdown.

NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 520M with 1GB DDR3 VRAM - Doesn't work because of Optimus. Nothing to do about that.

Card Reader3 -in-1 card reader ( SD/ MS/ MMC) - Haven't tried to fix this so no idea why.

Camera 0.3 Mega Pixel Fixed web camera - Camera is registered (it can been seen in System Information as ASUS USB2.0 WebCam) but does not work. Haven't tried fixing this.

Bluetooth - Don't know why. Haven't got high hopes of getting this fixed. I think the IO(Bluetooth-something) kext slows boot down a lot because of all the errors it's throwing. I am going to try and remove this kext to speed up boot later.

Brightness remains the same when pulling out the power plug.

Chameleon the touchpad works with multitouch.
what have you taken this kext for trackpad??????? whith 2 finger scroll

I used the kexts from the Lion installer (ApplePIPS2Nub.kext and ApplePS2Controller) but when I installed the newest version of Chameleon they didn't work anymore... The most important thing to fix IMO is sleep, shutdown and WiFi though... I just have no idea how...

I tried the DSDT you posted but I still haven't gotten shutdown and sleep working. Is shutdown and sleep working for you crunk?
