Default OS X LION on ASUS EeePc?

    Hi everyone,

Does someone know if it's possible to install a dual boot with win7 / OS X Lion, on an EeePc (Asus 1005PE)?

And if yes, could you explain me how to proceed.

    Thanks a lot.

    Jano.

Hi Jano and welcome to the fropum.
I would think that dual booting would be your smallest problem. Your Eee´s N450 cpu can handle 64 bit instructions, so Lion would be possible. The GMA3150 is not supported with QE/CI in OSX, so its not recommended for Apple´s cat family at all. If you try hard enough, a VESA screen with 800x600 pixel will probably work, but no decent graphics, no videos, no fun.

Look here for the Macbook´s hardware specs MacBook - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and try to find something similar, used but working from IBM or HP. Some of those are fairly cheap on fleabay. The C2Ds will usually be compatible with Lion. The proper mGPU should be your main concern.
Installing Lion on those notebooks is most easily done with myHack.
To prepare the stick, a running (Hack)Mac and the Lion DMG from Apple is required.
    Best wishes!

Default ... Finaly... Os X Lion on Eee pc 1005 pe

After hours and hours ... I finally find a way to fix Os X Lion 10.7.2 on my Eeepc 1005pe!

I've tryied a lot of differents ways but nearly without success ...

The first thing wich worked was to use "iPortable" with an 10.6 SnowLeopard ... witch use a bootable usb with a disk image ... after installing you can "clone" your bootable usb to a partition of your HDD with "Carbon Copy Cloner" ... I wasn't to upgrade to a higher OS and wan't able to use my wi-fi and after trying install news kernel I stucked my Os ... (without saving!!!)

Then I've tryied a finally good way wich was iAtkos L2 ...
Firstly I was'nt able to root it. (even using chameleon ...or other bootloader)

I succeed with "UniBeast-Lion-1.5.0" mounting a bootloader usb - and then just installing iAtkos L2 on an other usb.

To boot it we firt have to type: mach_atom ... and then it goes right starting the installation on my HDD

Using disk utilities to make a partition (journaled - GUID)

Customisation : I've tryied a couple of combination without success ... so I choose everything in customisation and it worked!

Now I have an OS X Lion nearly fully working ... just still missing the wi-fi (Atheros ar 9285 !!) Airport could see connections but I can't connect me.

Ethernet - sound - video- ... and bluetooth are working.

I've tryied a software update to 10.7.3 but without succes ....

Fortunately I made a copy on a 2cd partition (with Carbon Copy Cloner) before my update.

I'm still looking for a way to make my wi-fi working.

I'm sorry for my English ... and I'm a little bit tired ...

I will not make a tuto wich explain all my way but I surelly could explain a bit more if someone is also looking a way to use his asus eee pc 1005 pe as an hackintosh.

Bye and thanks to all people who wrote all the tutorials just to help others to find their way.

    Hi Jano,

I just tried to install iAtkos L2 the way you did.
Everything seemed to go right but I have a problem when booting.
The bootloader sees iAktos bu when I laucnh it I get stuck on the Apple logo screen and the spinning indicator.

Did you had the same problem ... and if YES how did you solved it ?

Is your Eee a 1005PE as well Manuel? You will know, that Asus had many different builds of 1005. The HAs e.g. had 32bit cpus and were thus were incompatible with 10.7 or higher. 64bit cpu Eees can be made work with Lion and nawcom´s Eee kernel. IIRC the Finder wasn´t working with nawcom´s kernel, but PathFinder should work.

A AR9285 wifi should work as Airport Extreme natively. For some obscure reasons "n" isn´t working. Set your WLAN router to "b/g only" thats all.

Off: Personally, I don´t think setting up anything higher than 10.6.6 on a low end cpu is worth the effort.
It can be done, but you wont get much benefits from the newer kernels, as you cant stay vanilla and weak cpus will spoil the Mac look and feel. After all there was a reason (besides making money) that Apple dropped support for so many cpus with 10.6.2.

Here is a German how to for 1005HA and similar, I wrote in spring last year: http://ubuntuone.com/7DOWVUifOCnxed0lotIibz
Good enough for trying with Google Translate maybe.
