    Default OSXperts, I could use some help if you can.

    Trying to install iAtkos L2 on an Acer Aspire 5750

    I have a useful guide for this laptop and some kexts etc to use, if only I can get the damn thing to install!
    Could you guys lend a hand as i've tried SO many bootflag combinations, dvd burns, USB restores, forum searches etc etc.
    I will try and give you as much info as I can to date.

    Setup;
    Intel i7-2630QM 2Ghz
    8gb Ram (I've reduced it to 4Gb for the purpose of installation)
    Intel HD Graphics 3000
    500GB HDD

    From Win7 Device manager I can also give you this information;
    Intel(R) Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller
    Computer > ACPI x64-based PC
    Unsure if they are useful.

    So far I have managed to get an barely working version of IAtkos v7 installed on my hard drive I am using seperate partitions for Win7 and OSX.

    OSX boots with chameleon 2.0 bootloader, and I use EASYBCD in win7 to select where to boot.
    I have downloaded iAtkos L2 DMG file, I have a converted iso version on DVD which gets to screen where you select to load or choose boot options with F8, if I press anything (to boot, or F8) It stops dead and does nothing (even left overnight). I have an iBoot CD which I have also tried to boot it with, -v produces pages of READ HFS+ texts then reboots, no bootflag flashes up the apple logo the restarts, -x does the same. I have tried all sorts of boot flags. Although I am new to this so unsure if they are even needed I have tried combinations of, busratio=20, PCIRootUID=0, -v, -x, -f, PmVersion=0, Arch=i386, MaxMem=4096. I also have tried expanding the DMG with Transmac and formatted with image to a USB, whenever I try to install chameleon on the USB it freezes at something similar to 'Writing script receipt'. I have tried using the chameleon bootloader that gets me into my Iatkosv7 installation on my harddrive to boot the DVD or USB to no avail. I have also tried using iBoot to do the same. Most progress I have made has been with using Mach_kernel -v, the loads more texts after the previous restarting point but ends up freezing. I have been messing with copying my EXTRA folder from my working iAtkos v7 installation on my HDD to the USB EXTRA folder, the same with S/L/E, also copied FakeSMC from my HDD as at some point I saw this was a problem with the installation using -v, the same with copying Mach_Kernel from my HDD. I am not even sure if these would have made a difference but I'm running out of ideas. I also saw at some point that ACPI table not found: DSDT.aml and ACPI table not found: SSDT.aml.

    I have tried many DVD burned at lower speeds, and tried restoring the DMG to the USB in my iAtskos v7 installation.

    Any ideas here?
    My overall plan is to get 10.7.2 working to upgrade to Mountain Lion if possible.
    I think I will be fine by searching the forums for any problems afterwards but it's just getting to the actual installation thats the issue here.
    I would REALLY appreciate any thoughts you guys have on this.
    Thanks. Steve.

    Distro DVD`s already have your own boot loader...

    You don`t need a BootCD to boot a Distro installation...

    Just boot using the flags below...

    Code:
    cpus=1 busratio=20 -x -v
    And if the system freeze, take a picture of the entire screen and place here...

    Yeah this is partly the issue i'm having, If i use the DVD I have of L2 if gets to the "Press any key to boot, or press F8" type screen, and if I anything it just freezes. So no option to try the bootflags. And in the USB where I formatted with the expanded DMG file it just simply doesnt boot from the USB. It just ignores it when I select to boot from it. Hence my attempting to boot it with iBoot to be able to use boot flags. I'll try your suggestions using iBoot anyway, just incase. But while I'm trying it, any idea how to either 1) Actually get the some form of boot of from the USB, or 2) How to stop the DVD freeze so I can press F8 to use bootflags?

    Thanks for the quick reply Kyndder!

    Attatched should be two pictures from the attempts.
    One is from Iboot, selected to boot from my USB this started with the ACPI table not found etc and then wizzes through pages and pages of READ HFS+ like you see, then it hung at a blank black screen.
    Using the chameleon bootloader that gets me into my IATKOS V7 installation I used the bootflags and selected the USB and it gave the other picture with the yellow text.

    Check in your BIOS if you have the options below and change them according the recommendations...

    SATA = AHCI
    HPET = Enabled (64bit if possible)
    Suspend Mode = Only S3
    SpeedStep = Enabled
    C1 / C2 / C3 = Enabled
    Overclock = Disabled

    It`s strange when you tells that when you press F8 the boot just freeze... You should see somewhere on the screen a field to enter boot flags (at least when you start to write something)...

    If the boot freeze before you press F8 (and I believe after too), this may be an error caused by a faulty burn process...

    The other errors may be solved by using the BIOS settings above...

    My bios us set to AHCI, but I do not have options for the others. In fact my bios options seem some what bare in comparison to other bios pictures I have seen. And if I attempt to type the cpus = 1 the first "c" counts as a key press and it attempts to boot and freezes if I press F8 it also freezes.

    Im now flashing my bios in an attempt to unlock some of the options to apply the recommended settings you provided.

    IMAG0272.jpgIMAG0271.jpg I'll be honest, these new options don't mean much to me. I had an option to change C's ... I think had C6 C7 do I disable these? I have lot's of CPU options now but none as vague as 'overclocking' .... It's gone to the opposite. To simple, to too complicated.

    You don`t need to disable anything that isn`t on that list (to begin at least)...

    Overclock will be any kind of Overclock and not a specific one...

    Some machines are tricky... Unfortunately, you need to try various combinations till you find something more compatible...

    Did you already tried to burn another DVD??? Just to get off the Burn Error doubt???

    Yeah, I've tried it on a few Dual layer discs too. I have a few expensive coasters now. What would you personally advise as the best method? I have a DMG file of L2. Convert to ISO and burn? somehow get the DMG onto the disc direct? I have transmac, ultraiso, magiciso and imgburn if that's at all useful.

    But just for peace of mind, and while I await any other suggestions, im currently burning the dmg to a fresh DL DVD in transmac at the lowest speed. It is expanding and burning as I type.

    The best method always is a Retail install...

    Wait till Transmac finish and try again...

    New dvd burned successfully, same issue as the previous discussions though.

    I tried booting the DVD with Iboot again, just so I could run it with boot flags you suggested ... And it did the same, ran through tonnes of read hfs+ files then right before it froze on a black screen it said Boot Args: boot - uuid =2ac42abc-7898-38c7-8e69-96660723a51e rd="uuid arch =i386 maxmem=4096 npci=0x3000 cpus = 1 bus ratio =20 - x - v (I filmed it this time and had to pause it)

    iboot can`t boot OS X Lion, to boot OS X Lion you need to use rboot...
