Unhappy Help required installing Lion 10.7.3 onto USB HDD

    Hi!

I have external 2TB USB disk. It was full NTFS (data only), GPT!
    I'd want to install MacOS.

    For that
    1. I shrinked 50Gb free space from NTFS partition.
    2. When I boot MacOs Installer, I ran Disk Utility and tried to created HFS+ partition of that free space.
    No way, I got error

File system resize support required such as HFS+

I tried to boot Windows7 again and create partition on than free space in diskmgmt.msc
And when I boot MacOs Installer it just stuck with error:

Memory allocation error: Address 0x0 disk.c
    SYSTEM HALTED!!!

It appears on step before loader shows command line to allow enter kernel boot params such as -x -v and so on.
I noticed that it (loader) stuck at the moment it rtied to load from USB HDD.

Please help me with right scenario. What goes wrong.

    Thanks.

First of all, i can't. There is 1.8Tb of data already in the HDD. No way to move them anywhere else.
Second, are u sure that the error depends on file system type but not on partition's issue?

I don't see why not if you've already shrinked 50Gb free space from NTFS partition.
Also, probably your USB installer is corrupted. Just make another one.

    Seems like a bit misunderstanding.
    Windows installed on internal HDD.
On this USB HDD is data only (movies, etc.). I can't see why do I need to create there FAT32 partition. I got u advised to convert NFTS to FAT32? Right?

Mac OS X installer will only recognize FAT32, not NTFS. Which installation method do you use?

USB flash installer made by instructions in network.
But why do i need warry that MacOS don't work with NTFS.
If i shrinked space for MacOS i want to install it to that free space.
I think it does not matter for install which file system is on other partitions rather than this free space.
    Am I wrong?

Just format that 50GB partition to FAT32 and then from MAc OS X install menu format it to HFS+. You don't need to format other partitions.

I made exFat FS with this free space.
MacOs Installer simply reboots (on stage detecting USB HDD partitions. Not Graphical part but text one, that ussally asks for boot params like -x -v etc.).
    Seems something goes wrong...

If I don't turn on USB HDD during text boot, it is loaded well.
Than during loading graphical part of the installer i turn on USB HDD.
    It is loaded well too.
I go to Disk Utility, erase this partinion. Setup it with HFS+ and install MacOs on it.

But after reboot if i choose from (BootThink 2.5.2) to load MacOs, it (BootThink) got stuck.

    Things seem bad...

Noname is correct. Mac will not install onto an NTFS partition. Usually you will have to go into Disk Utility and format the entire drive into Mac Journaled in order to install Lion onto it. Disk utility will not let you format just one partition of a drive.

    eXfat will not work either!!!!

You usually will have to wipe the entire drive. I understand that you don't want to wipe the entire drive but you probably cannot just change one partition or space of your 2 TB drive into an HFS+ via disk utility. One tool that may allow you to do this is called Mini Partition Wizard. I would post a link to one of the sites that has it but there are a lot of them. I think I downloaded mine from downloads.com a few years ago. I think they are download.cnet.com now. I have used it for a few years and am not sure which site I downloaded it from. It has a free version as well as a paid version.

Also what are the specs of the system you are trying to install Lion onto?? Mb, CPU, Ram, Video card etc..

It sounds as if you will need a different HDD altogether to use in order to install Lion onto. You could always try a VMware or Virtual Box image of OS X Lion. Here is a link to a site that has both types of images already created for you to try. You could store their images onto your 2 TB drive. I understand what you are trying to accomplish but it usually will not let you do it the way you want to...Hope this helps.
