    Default AMD A8 3870k Hack?

Hello all! New to hackintosh and forums!

I have a macbook pro 17 in model from 2009. I have built a APU build desktop mainly for multimedia purposes, but would like to have a secondary HDD with snow leopard / lion on it...

I have seen info about going with a mod kit cd and then the retail SL cd, and also something called iAtkos or something like that. Was wondering what your suggestions would be for starting?

(I have no experience with this so be as specific as you can if you give info! Will help a lot!)

My thoughts are the modkit cd possibly, or just use my macbook to install SL onto another HDD.... but then IDK how to make it boot on the other computer ... (have a usb flash drive with bootable Lion on it, and doesn't do anything!) Should I just go with mod cd ? or iAtkos ? Where to start? ;-)

    Thanks ! - LJH

You could try the retail method but when i try it on a my laptop A6 cpu i could get it to update correctly. The combo update would install successfully but after restart it doesnt show the update

Thanks for the replies guys... I have been trying to get the retail cd method to work, for some reason my computer won't even boot the mod kit cd thing... so i guess i'm gonna burn iAtkos and try it next....

(disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter.... thats all i get from trying to boot mod kit cd ;-/ )

Thats what I get from the ModbinKernel CD thing.... I use the cd i made to boot, use the rd(0,0)/Extra/modbin_kernel to load that kernel and then swap in my SL disc .... and when i press f5 i get that....

iAtkos L2 constantly reboots....gets to the main display page.. "press any key to continue" ... but won't go any farther....

any ideas for making the mod cd work?

Edit: or tell me what i'm doing wrong if you can please? :-)

That is called a kernel panic. From the screenshot, it looks like that EvOreboot.kext is causing it. Add "-x" to your list of boot flags to boot in safe mode, which only loads core required kexts. It will look like this:
    Code:
    rd(0,0)/Extra/modbin_kernel -v -x
Another thing: the reason iATKOS L2 wasn't booting was because it's based on OS X Lion. Lion has AMD kernels available, but they are buggy and generally unstable. For this reason, iATKOS does not include the AMD kernel. I recommend sticking with retail installation methods instead of distros because they sometimes install more than what you actually need, causing instability.
