Thread: Freezes When Installing HELP!? [PLEASE]

when i try to install Snow Leopard 10.6 Retail DVD using the ModCD it gets passes all of the first part. After clicking customise and then starting the install, it stays on for about 2 mintes, and then just freezes any help please?

SPECS:

ASUS M5A78L-M USB3
AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE
Corsair Vegeance 8GB 1666Mhz
Radeon HD 6670

Dumb question but you are formatting the drive before continuing the install? Second, try removing 6Gb of memory and installing with just 2Gb if your modules allow you to, if not try installing with 4Gb insted of 8Gb

YES I AM FORMATTING IT
AND IT GOT HALF WAY THE FIRST TIME AND THEN COULDNT INSTALL ERROR POPPED UP.
I NEED HELP SO BADLY

Need some more info about the error. Have you tried installing with only 4Gb of memory and do you have any other cards/audio/tv card or a second hard drive attached to the board?

You might try Empire EFI amd edition. I've read where it has worked for some.

just mouse and keyboard. and it just stops at a certain part. how do i use 'Empire EFI'

As you can see Im running an Intel base system. I didnt have any luck with Modcd. It might be the way "Modcd" is prepairing your system for the install thats causing it to freeze. Also try installing with only 4Gb memory. I've only read where Empire EFI amd edition has worked for several people, havn't used it my self>ie Intel system. Have to look around to find it but it's out there.

i tried this and still no luck, i haven't tried putting it down to only 4gb yet tho. could that be the problem?

i removed everything apart from 2gb ram and still no luck.here is the error i get. (attached)

Hey J sorry havn't been much help but trying. You might have a look at Tonymac86 site see if you can find some answers there. DO a google search for whats happening and see what you find. Just have to keep looking for the solution.
