    Default SL and P4/quick hello

    Hello everybody!

I'm a newbie to the forum, but not to the hackintosh scene (not a total newbie anyway). I did have a long long break though, and looks like I've been missing out on a lot. Now I'm planning on updating my old CoolHack, which runs iDeneb 10.5.5.

I've been reading bits and pieces about Snow Leopard installations on P4 machines, and it looks like it might be possible. My question is this, what method should I use for the SL installation? Or should I try it at all? Some say SL is really slow on P4 machines.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Try nawcom boot CD with a original osx dvd . install with bootoption of the modbin kernel.
you should select de legacy kernel in the installation options when installing your system with nawcom.

Havent tried SL installation yet, but I updated my CoolHack to 10.5.8 with the iDeneb combo update and iDenebTool1058.

Everything went great! I just patched DSDT with PCWiz's tool and moved on to installing the update. Everything went fine up to the point where there was like 3 mins left to install. At that point the installer froze, and I couldn't open any other programs. So I waited a while, about 5 mins or so, then forced the installer to quit. CoolHack rebooted, twice. On the 2nd time I stopped the bootloader and typed in voodoo, for the kernel. Computer booted up and everything was working great.

After that I ran the iDenebTool and chose to install the voodoo kernel again, for it to be automatically chosen at start up. I also selected the Chameleon RC2 for a bit fancier boot up screen. Thanks to Chameleon devs for making it so stylish.
Again the installer got stuck, this time at 1 min remaining. I waited for 5 mins again, then force quit the installer. And computer rebooted again, this time straight into my login window. I logged in and checked the system profiler, everything looked nice. I tested sleep mode and it worked now, before it got stuck and I had to force reboot.

So now I have a pretty much 100% working Pentium 4 hackintosh (well actually my dad does, cause he uses the computer). Thanks to this forum for lots of good information regarding the iDeneb update.

Some day, when I have HD to spare, I'll try to do a retail installation of 10.6.4 with modbin kernel on that P4 hackintosh. Before that I think I'll install retail with vanilla kernel on my friend's P5Q hack and my brother's P5W DH-Deluxe hack. Any tips are welcome.
