Default Which essential kexts in /extensions are needed ?

if i got a patched DSDT.aml, which .kexts in /E/Extensions are essential for my chameleon for a 100% functioning system (10.5.8)?

which .kexts can be dispensed with?

what are there differences between 10.6 and 10.5.8, which kexts are needed ?

sorry,i tried out the search function without any useful result.

You need several things in order for this to work. You will need the kexts in /E/E.

In /Extras you will need the dsdt, com.Apple.boot.plist, and smbios.plist.

There are very distinct and different kexts in each OS version. The latest Chameleon RC3 lets you create folders like this:

    Extra/10.5/Extensions
    Extra/10.6/Extensions

It is smart enough to detect which OS you want and load appropiate kexts... I have a long list of kexts in Leopard. I will create a screencap and upload it for you tonight... but you may want to try Asere's blog. He has the needed kexts in there for both OS's. Look at section
    7.) [10.6] Setup the Chameleon USB-Stick

    here is his blog.

A small addition to that (correct me if I am wrong): The 10.5/10.6 subfolders are only processed by Chameleon if you install it on a USB stick/a dedicated partition.

If the Extra folder resides on the same partition as the installation of the operating system, Chameleon will not process a folder like /Extra/10.5/Extensions. Instead, you would have to create /Extra/Extensions (without the "10.5"-folder in-between).

Was hoping you were going to post a screen shot of your stick. Would love to see your setup as we have the same board and I want to be able to dual boot leopard and snow.

Sure.... do you have Chameleon on a stick or the hard drive? If you have it on a stick, install it to a new one. This way, if you run into trouble, you can boot with original stick...
