Default Hackintosh Audio issue (Gigabyte: GA-P43T-ES3G) [Very detailed]

Hello, I'm having trouble with my hackintosh I can't seem to get audio to work. When I go to system Preferences nothing is grayed out I can toggle with stuff but There is no sound. I looked up on the Gigabyte website what kind of drivers/Codec I use and here is the Codec audio it says it uses: (Realtek ALC888 codec)

I'm not really sure on how to install this driver/codec but I was looking some things up on google and alot of people are saying I will need to uninstall the audio kexts that were manually installed already when I loaded Mac OS X on my machine. I guess even though I don't have sound people were saying sense I can toggle with the audio in system Preferences That there is in fact an audio driver installed It's just that it wont work/Isn't the right one.

So if anyone knows how I can uninstall the false audio kexts and reinstall the new one (Realtek ALC888 Codec) It would be highly appreciated. As everything else is running perfectly on my hackintosh. Audio is the only set back.

Here is the link to my Motherboard specifications:

    GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 775 - GA-P43T-ES3G (rev. 1.0)

They are saying that, why? Because your chipset might work primarily using two methods:

    1. VoodooHDA.kext, which is not an Apple original system's kext, and is developed by the team that supports Chameleon

    2. AppleHDA.kext, Apple original system's kext, which probably needs some patching and some edits in dsdt

... when this two are present at the same time in S/L/E (System/Library/Extensions) they might conflict with each other. So, when using one method (kext) is better to delete the other one. Since, i don't know what was the method of your installation or what version of OS X are you using, i can't tell if VoodooHDA.kext was installed or not, or how to best make use of AppleHDA.kext (depends on some things that need to be used or not, audio patch in dsdt, HDAEnbaler.kext, LegacyHDA.kext etc)

This method is woking up to 10.6.7 (dsdt free patching)

    1. Install the two kexts from pack HDAEnabler.kext and LegacyHDA.kext (just one that you think it might suits you well) with Kext Wizard or Kext Utility

    2. Use HDA Wizard to bin patch AppleHDA.kext (only check this, ALC888)

For 10.6.8 you need to use one of these combos:

    1. Either use the AppleHDA.kext bin patched from any version up to 10.6.7 + the 2 kexts above

OR 2. You need to further patch AppleHDA.kext from 10.6.8, that needs more then bin patching + the codec for ALC888 in dsdt.aml file

REMINDER! When updating from a version to another (example 10.6.3 to 10.6.4 etc) the AppleHDA.kext is replaced with a new one (vanilla/untouched), newer version, and then for, it needs to be bin patched again to once again work; or you could use a backup from the previous version that was already bin patched

Thanks, this helped I was able to get audio working! I used multibeast and used the (ALC8xxHDA) went down to "Non-DSDT HDAEnabler" and selected (ALC888) (HDAenabler) Now, what I noticed was for some odd reason (ALC888) HDAenabler did not work? I know it sounds weird so at that point I rebooted and this time my audio was actually grayed out to the point Where I couldn't toggle it at all. I was thinking to myself great I set myself back. But I decided to mess with some of the other HDAenablers because I had nothing to lose. Oddly enough the (ALC892) HDAenabler actually worked for me I'm not sure why. On the Gigabyte website for my Mobo it said I used ALC888 Codec but when I chose ALC888 HDA enabler it didn't work and ALC892 did. And I verified that I am using the ALC892 by going to "About this mac" > "Audio (built in)" And when I scroll down it says the following:

    Audio ID: 892

In which case I'm guessing I am using the 892 Codec?

Please reply to this I know that I have audio working but I would like to know why 892 is working and the 888HDA enabler did not and if my statement above is true.

    Thanks, Tazzy

I don't think that what you've said or are you currently using is wrong in anyway ... Take a look at this:
    GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 775 - GA-P43T-ES3G (rev. 1.3)

Maybe you got your revision wrong?!
