Question Starting with Win7 and Asus A5NE-SLI

    So, here's the parts ...
    nVidia 8800GT video
Asus A5NE-SLI; Core2 Duo Quad processor
2 Gig RAM DDR2 loaded (2 more on desk)

I have a separate HDD, 320 Gig with Snow Leopard and Chameleon loaded. I attempt to boot, and I get the chameleon splash screen, and the Apple with the whirly-gig - then the 'Null' (Circle with a diagnal bar through it) appear on the Apple icon.

Doing the verbose, I see that there is a USB error, then Null Pointer on Stack, and an indefinite 'Waiting on Host'.

Since I have no Mac in the house - I'm kind of stuck.

Suggestions are welcome, and sincerely appreciated.

This could be for many reasons...

    You don`t have FakeSMC.kext on /System/Library/Extensions...

You don`t have the right ATA/SATA kext for your controller...

You don`t setup your SATA to AHCI on your MOBO BIOS...

And in the last case a USB issue...

It will be more easy to fix if you post a picture of the freeze in Verbose Mode ( -v )...

Chameleon loads. this is the screen I see. I launched with options -s -v -f (to make sure that I wasn't using cached crud).

I do not have the ability to set SATA to AHCI in Bios. Will do my homework and double-check that Asus hasn't updated the BIOS recently (but as this is a 4+ yr old board, I sincerely doubt it). But, will check immediately

What Version of OS X you have installed???

Try booting the system with the same BootCD that you use for the installation and tell me if works...

BTW, take a look at this guide and see if you made all the needed steps > olarila.com • Exibir tópico - Snow Leopard on Asus Mobos/Notebooks

I had a friend with a Mac install Chameleon RC5, with Snow Leopard on it. I then installed this loaded HDD on my PC and cannot get it to boot without a kernel Panic.

I followed your advice, and burned the .iso of Hackboot V5 - this boots without an issue. Waited for it to boot, swapped in Snow Leopard, waited a minute for the DVD/CD disk to read - hit F5 as instructed, and then enter. Verbose - but this is the screen when it failed again. Looks very familiar.

I strongly suspect the nVidia chipset is the root problem, as the North and South Bridge chips are both HyperTransport devices, instead of the Intel chipsets. But, I can't edit the KEXTS until I can boot into Mac OSX. Trouble is, I don't know how to get there from here. No problem re-formatting the HDD, there is nothing of value on it, the programs I want are safely stashed on other drives (with SATA plugs removed until we resolve this problem).Hackboot fail 2.jpg

Try booting with this BootCD > Nawcom OSX ModCD - Downloads - Kexts.com

And if you still having startup issues, use the flag`s below...

    Code:
    cpus=1 busratio=9 arch=i386 -v

Still no joy. Downloaded the file you indicated, swapped to Lion disk, hit F5, waited for screen to refresh and hit enter. I got the fail screen again. Reset PC, re-booted with Nawcom, swapped disk, and entered the flags as you listed. Crashed again.

Check if you have made the settings below on your MOBO BIOS, if possible, load defaults and only change the necessary...

    SATA > AHCI

    HPET > Enable

    SpeedStep > Enable

    Suspend Mode > S3

    Overclock > Disable
