I wasn't sure where to put this - as I know that most of the forum deals with x86 applications - but I figured, heck this is hardware mod - if anyone know the systems its the users of this forum. I post part of this in the kext premium area as well - if anyone can solve it.
- Personwho helps solve this problems will be mailed a USB 3.0 PCI Sonnet Card
Card in Question: SonnetAllegro USB 3.0 PCIe
Problem: I have a Lacie USB 3.0 External HardDrive. I have a Power Macintosh G52.5 Ghz Quad Core Computer with several extra PCI Express slots. I purchased a USB 3.0 card slot hoping that it would be able to run on 10.5.8. Now I know the site says that it only supports 10.6 and later, but I chose this PCIe card for a special reason. After downloading the drivers from Lacie, CalDigit, etc. the achieve extract of the content package was a .kext file that was Universal not Intel this gave me hope that with some adjustment the PowerPC platform would be able to operate this PCIe card.
I attempted to modify several .kext files to make the card be recognized, but to no success. I see that the USB 3.0 card from Lacie has been patched by Modbin - but when installed on PowerPC it does not work. Though I do not have the exact Lacie 3.0 card the Sonnet uses the same chipset (maybe new revision though). If anyone has ideas about this problem / possible solutions the many PowerPC users who still have great last generation computers would appreciate it...we don't have a forum of our own. Thanks in advance for any input.
