Default Snow leopard 10.6.8 not seeing DVD-rw drive

As stated, got everything up and running. Runs perfect.

    However...

The cd drive doesn't work. Osx isn't even aware there IS a cd drive, yet in windows and in bios, it reads perfectly.

This is a weird problem NEVER seen it before. At least my old hackintosh would see a SATA DVD-rw but would crash if I tried accessing it.

    Any ideas?

Oh and the DVD- rw is a IDE, NOT SATA.
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.5ghz
ECS NFORCE6M-A ( I think the last letter is A)
500GB Western Digital 7200rpm SATA black hard drive ( osx 10.6.7)
250GB Western Digital 7200RPM SATA hard drive (Windows 7 64-bit)
    4GB DDR2-800 ram
    Galaxy GeForce GT 430 1GB
(the rig above cost me 60 bucks to build... Thank for for Craigslist!)

THAT is your problem. You will need an IDE/ATA-driver for your motherboard, like jMicron36x-ATA-kext from MultiBeast/MacMan. If it is not running: take any new SATA-DVD-drive, they are really not expensive ..

problem is resolved.... i had the drive jumped as a slave, and the cable on master. set the drive on master, and now its working.
