Will a ASRock 870 AMD board with a Athlon II x4 965 work?

meant Phenom in the title! sorry!

I've been really interested in dual booting OS X onto my computer mainly because of all the mac only programs i need for college. But i don't want to go and make my computer not work then have to format my HDD and re install windows. Using a separate HDD instead would probably be one way to avoid that, but does anyone know if this combination would work?

Full Specs:
ASRock 870 Extreme3
AMD Phenom II x4 965
2 x 2GB 1600 DDR3 Ram
ATI Radeon HD 5970

But why shouldn´t you try?
A second HDD for OSX would have been my choice too.
Some USB drive may do too, just to have a look how far you can get.

Yeah, i took a look and it seemed pretty straight forward. I just wanted to see if anyone had used a ASRock or 870 chip set board and had success.
