    Default 990FX chipset?

I recently upgraded my Intel system to AMD and it is a lot faster in Windows, but I can't get Snow Leopard to work. Every time I update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 with the 10.6.8 combo update, practically no applications will run. As soon as I click on them, I get a "(Insert application name here) has unexpectedly closed." message immediately. Applications work in 10.6.3, but I need 10.6.8 for my graphics card (Radeon HD 5670) to work at full resolution for my monitor. My install method is the Nawcom CD and a retail 10.6.3 disc. After applying the combo update, I re-install the legacy kernel, rollback the USB drivers, and install the fix for the PCI configuration error. Then when I reboot, the graphics work fne but I get the application problems. Is this problem related to the chipset or how I'm installing?

    My system:
    -Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3
-AMD Phenom II X4 960T (I've tried it with and without the 5th and 6th cores unlocked)
-8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM (Two 4 GB sticks)
-XFX Radeon HD 5670 Graphics card
-Windows 7 Professional 64-bit installed on separate hard drive

    Am I missing any information?

    Thanks for any help!

I'm not understanding how to use that patch. I'm not very good with command line.

Thanks! I can use applications now. I have new problems, though. Audio and the Mac App Store won't work. I have ALC889 onboard audio and the steps for using Multibeast don't work. For the Mac App Store, I've tried every possible troubleshooting step I could find the last time I looked and nothing worked. I still get a "Your device or computer could not be verified. Contact support for assistance." error.

    hello,

you'd be quicker to install iATKOS S3 V2 (20 min)
and do the 10.6.8 Combo Update (20 min) rather than tinker
    with MultiBeast.

    you started with busratio=15 maxmem 4096 -v

How is that any faster than using retail and combo update? And what do you mean by the kernel flags? Are you saying I should boot my existing system with those or reinstall and boot with them?

Forget that and use this > http://www.osx86.net/desktops/14304-...s-working.html

Nothing is better than a Retail installation...

    [EDIT]

Just for record, the correct Bus/Core Ratio of your processor is 16 and not 15 like @gils83 told > X86 cpus' Guide - View details on AMD Phenom II X4 960T Black Edition

What does the bus ratio flag do? Is it necessary?

Is the CPU Multiplier > CPU multiplier - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You only need to use this flag if you had issues during boot, but if you keep your
boot loader updated this is not necessary in the most of cases...
