Default New Here. Acer Aspire 5732z-4280

Hi Im new here and new to the OS X. I have recently formatted my HDD and Installed a retail disc of Snow Leo 10.6.3. I made the mistake of not getting my hardware info first, now I have no clue on what my Lan and Wlan is. I have no clue what kexts i may need or even how to install them. I used the bootloader Rebel EFI, and now I can only boot with it in my cd drive. I did try one of the new chameleons as a boot loader and it just hangs my system at the silver apple screen. My laptop is: Acer Aspire 5732z-4280. If you have a similar system and have had good luck, please post some info. Oh and one more thing, the OS X doesnt show my cpu as it really is. I have a core 2 duo 2.2 ghz. Thanks in advance.: eek:

Well, the chameleon didnt work. It works up until I get to the silver apple loading, then it just hangs there forever. So at that point I have to soft off and use the Rebel EFi loader, and the OS loads right up.

Now the other program worked great, I was able to find a kext for my nic, but cant find one for my wifi. I am on the system now. I am using a retail version of Snow Leo, so I was able to do updates from apple.

Have you been able to get the mouse-pad to work....?? I have to use an usb mouse.

I have the Atheros AR9285 wireless network adapter.

Hey Dolphans, I have been unable to get the wifi or the mouse pad to work also. I had the same wifi card as you and I was unable to find a kext that worked. I took a different wifi card and it still doesnt work, so Im going to reinstall OSX and hope that works.

Yeah, I have read a mountain of threads and they all have lead to dead-ends. Seems to be a very difficult wireless card to load and set-up. I can't even install easy multibeast to get the system to boot on its own.

Ended up reinstalling windows back on it and I threw in the towel.

Not wasting anymore time working on a laptop where so many things don't work.

    1) can't boot on its own.
    2) no wifi
    3) no onboard mouse - have to use usb mouse

Hey Kobalt - try this for your mouse pad and keyboard - noname forwarded it to me on another thread.

I havent tried that yet. My keyboard works fine, mouse pad doesnt work and I could care less if it did. I have always used a wireless mouse on my laptop and I always will. Before I reinstalled my webcam worked but now it doesnt, I am still searching for the kext I used to get it working. I am just going to buy a mac mini and hook it up to my 40" tv for a monitor, that will beat any hackintosh I could ever make!
