Thread: Kext driver for Lenovo G550

To my fellow OSX86's,
I have just recently managed to install Mountain Lion 10.8 on the Lenovo G550. I have noticed that when I go to network in system preferences I can not see any network hardware. I have read a couple of forums and they say that you need kexts for the hardware to work. I have been searching all over the internet and osx86.net and am not able to find the kexts. If it is possible please can you tell me where I can get these kexts from. This is my first post and my first time I have ever managed to get Mountain Lion to work, so I am a complete noob with both. Finally I wish to say thank you for any one who maybe able to help me.

With System Info you can find the ID's and search for a kext.

I will give that a try

To Rene,
I cannot run System Info because it requires java. I cannot install Java because I have no internet. So do you know if there is any other app.

If you can download System Info maybe you can download this link for Java:
http://support.apple.com/downloads/D...JavaForOSX.dmg

Or try /Applications/Utilities/System Information > Ethernet Cards. Look for Device ID
Mine is 0x8168

System Info also runs on Window$, if you still have it?

In Terminal just drop bdmesg [enter]
and search for
LAN Controller [10ec:8168] :: PciRoot(0x1)/Pci(0x1c,0x4)/Pci(0x0,0x0)
This is my example, 8168 is de Device ID
10ec is the Vendor ID

Thanks very much I have given this a try and I now have a working wireless and ethernet card. I will be posting all the kexts for the Lenovo G550 later on when I have got the working resolution of 1366 x 768.

To everyone,

The only thing that I can't get to work is the webcam kexts on Snow Leopard and the 1366 x 768 res. Please post if you know were they are.
