    Probably yes...

Try to install Snow Leopard using the Retail DVD + Nawcom ModCD...

For Lion, you need Snow Leopard installed (or know someone that haves a Mac or Hack)....

But ive to be sure (or quite sure) that the installation of SL will go well, cause ive to format my HD!
So i've to buy a snow leopard retail? (i know that there are problems with sandybridge, the kernel dont recognize)
Where can i find that Nawcom ModCD? (could u pls send me a mp)

There`s no problem with Sandy Bridge CPU`s...

You must keep on mind that Sandy Bridge CPU`s are introduced on Snow Leopard on the update 10.6.7, so, if you have the version 10.6.3 installed, you won`t be able to boot your system properly...

You need to install Using ModCD, reboot, boot the already installed system with ModCD again, install the Bootloader (Chameleon), update to 10.6.7, reboot and after that you should be able to start OS X...

I don`t know about better "Distro", the better "always" is made a retail install...

to know your devices and find right kexts for your system, search for System Info at the downloads section...

Hi all, I have ordered an ASUS x53sv with the same specs (except the cpu that is an i7 2670qm, a sandy bridge anyway) and I'm not sure to understand which is the best way to go, expecially regarding the video card: I've read here and there that there is not support yet for the geforce 540m and just the integrated Intel HD 3000 will work, is it right? I've also read that LION has native support for NVIDIA 5xx series cards, so in the end, is it better to try with SL retail or directly with LION? (I've already prepared a USB stick with Tonymac "Unibeast"); Is Nawcom ModCD mandatory, or may I use iBoot for example? thanks in advance

Yes, unfortunately, theres no "better" support for NVidia 5xx series yet...

But i have almost sure that your IntelHD will work without issues...

And the support for IntelHD is better on Lion, so, you need to go directly to Lion...

I never used Unibeast and I don`t know if this method haves a incorporated BootLoader, but anyway, ModCD does`t have
    support for Lion yet...

Unibeast use Chameleon bootloader so u'll have a bootable USB installer of OSX Lion.
