Default How can I hide the Windows 7 hard drive from Mac OS X desktop?

    Hi,

I recently built a "Dual Boot Hackintosh with Windows 7 PC". Installed each operating system into a seperate hard drive and everything is OK by now. The only "problem" I've got is that everytime I log on to Mac OS X Snow Leopard, I see the "Windows 7 hard drive" (named "Untitled") on the MacOSX Desktop mounted.

How can I hide the Windows 7 hard drive from the Mac OS X desktop? I dont want Mac OS X to mount the "Windows 7 hard drive" everytime I boot to Mac.

    Anyone?

    Thank you in advance!

If you are using Chameleon, try Lizard. It has an option to hide partitions easy. Actually it is a option of Chameleon, but with lizard its easy to use.
    http://www.kexts.com/view/875-lizard.html

    Or do it with manualy:
    Add to com.apple.boot.plist:
    <key>Hide Partition</key>
    <string>hd(x,y)</string>
    hd(x,y), example: hide disk0s1 -> hd(0,1).
Support requests by PM will remain unanswered, sorry.

If you want hide from the boot menu use...

    <key>Hide Partition</key>
    <string>hd(x,y)</string>

And if you want to hide from your desktop try
Onyx, he have`s a option to hide unwanted
    disks/partitions.

OK, "LABEL=<drive name>" did not work for me.
But you can do it like this with the UUID. First find the UUID:
    1. Open Disk Utility and select the partition to hide (NOT the disk)
    2. CTRL-clik and select Information
    3. Now you can see the UUID (Universal Unique Identifier)
      It's something like this "A185E636-AE2A-4B08-B194-792A3D4FC951"
    4. Start the Terminal
      Type: sudo pico -w /etc/fstab
      It will ask your password.
      Next type:
UUID=FILL IN HERE YOUR NUMBER none ntfs ro,noauto 0 0
      CTRL+O to save
      press RETURN
      CTRL+X to exit

      Reboot

    My example:
You have now created a file /etc/fstab (no extension)
The contents of this file (fstab) is:
    UUID=A185E636-AE2A-4B08-B194-792A3D4FC951 none ntfs ro,noauto 0 0

    Mind:
    Code:
    sudo pico -w /etc/fstab
    will create a new file

    and
    Code:
    sudo pico /etc/fstab
    to edit the file

pico is a small terminal text editor
sudo="substitute user do (superuser)", it will always ask for your password (type it en press ENTER, you will NOT see the text you type)

If the drive is FAT32 just replace ntfs by msdos

Hi again. I tried this but when I am ready to save it (pressing CTRL+O) it says "Error Writing /etc/fstab/: No such file or directory"

    Did I do something wrong?...
