    Another approach could be SMBIOS table 4 "Processor Information" to get the current CPU/FSB frequency.
    Yes, that doesn't bother me a bit, just cosmetics anyway.

    Asere, thank you for keeping up your good work! It is of great value for this (and probably some others) community.
    I will try your solution ASAP. But before I do so, I have one question (suggestion?): in your post you are writing which kexts can be disregarded with your optimized boot code. What I miss is the information which kexts I still need in order to have everything running fine. Can you please tell?

    Many thanks!

    if you replace the scope section of your (mine ) DSDT with this
    Code:
     Scope (\)
        {
            Name (PICF, 0x00)
            Method (_PIC, 1, NotSerialized)
            {
                Store (Arg0, PICF)
            }
        }

        OperationRegion (PMRS, SystemIO, 0x0430, 0x1)
        Field (PMRS, ByteAcc, NoLock, Preserve)
        {
                   ,   4,
               SLPE,   1
        }

        Method (\_PTS, 1, NotSerialized)
        {
            Or (Arg0, 0xF0, Local0)
            Store (Local0, DBG1)
            OSTP ()
            If (LEqual (Arg0, 0x01)) {}
            If (LEqual (Arg0, 0x03)) {}
            If (LEqual (Arg0, 0x05))
            {
                Store (ESMI, Local0)
                And (Local0, 0xFB, Local0)
                Store (Local0, ESMI)
                Store (0x99, SMIP)
                Store (Zero, SLPE)
                Sleep(0x10)
            }

            If (LEqual (Arg0, 0x04))
            {
                If (LNot (PICF))
                {
                    Sleep (0x64)
                }
            }
        }
    and add
    Code:
    RestartFix = Yes
    to your boot.plist, you can delete openhaltrestart.kext

    if you upload your DSDT i can patch it for you
    (i forgot which of my 1000 DSDT you are useing )

    It's impossible for anyone to answer that question unless they know your setup exactly, what we all need is fakesmc.kext. What else you need depends on your hardware and dsdt. I for example use only fakesmc on my MSI board, on my Gigabyte board I use fakesmc and IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector. I don't need nothing else because this new booter and shutdown fix in dsdt allow me to remove PlatformUUID and OpenHaltRestart. I don't use onboard audio, ethernet or JMicron controller so no kext files for those either. For my Wlan card I don't need AtherosFix.kext because I have patched a fake device-id into dsdt.

    Thanks CEOS! (again, I need to add )
    Here it is, directly from my stick. However, apparently you have been working on your DSDT to further improve it. Why dont you just send me your latest one? I mean, the board is still the same, my graphics is initiated fine with graphics enabler and you also use DSW-547, no? That way I'll get the changes you've made after I got your DSDT. And I'll owe you even more beer. Much more!

    Yes, I understand. But your answer kinda answers my question: fakescmc is a MUST HAVE. And, since so many people work on so many different versions of DSDT, I just wanted to know what are/is the MUST kext(s) in general. Sorry, my question was not precise enough.

    here you can find some facts about fakesmc (do the same like AppleDecrypt.kext or dsmos.kext)
    http://www.projectosx.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=433
    now you will undersand why exactly you need it

    @ skipper

    i attached the patched DSDT, let me know if it works for you.

    if you are intrested in newer versions of my DSDT have a look here:
    http://efixusers.com/showthread.php?p=6531#post6531

    with the help of mm67 (thanks again ) Appleintelcpupowermanagement now works on DS3R with a Q6600 for me.
    If you are interested in getting this working on your CPU have a look here:
    http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ind...owtopic=181631
    i think i would be able to help you, but i need the vid/fid of your cpu.

    I have done some additional improvements for the DS3R, but i think this is not the right Thread to discuss it

    can pm it to you if i find some time...

    Hi AsereBLN,

    I am new here and have come along as mm67 pointed me towards this post. I like to keep my eye on any developments and improvements with Chameleon and PC-EFI and can I just say well done and thank you for your work here. I like the idea to not include the theme in the boot file.

    I have read your post and installed your files and am happy to say everything is working well. In return I am posting my feedback.

    My Rig specs:
    GA-EP45-DS3L with BIOS F11c.
    E7300 @ 2.66Ghz
    2 x 2GB Corsair DDR2 800
    MSI 8800GT 512MB OC
    2 x 500GB Samsung HDD

    Currently running 10.6.2

    Kexts in /E/E:
    Disabler.kext (just to disable AppleUpstreamUserClient)
    fakesmc.kext
    LegacyHDA.kext
    OrangeIconFix.kext

    I have attached a ZIP archive containing the following:
    The boot debug steps photos
    System Profiler - Memory - screenshot
    About this Mac Window - screenshot
    and the following files I have used for testing this:
    DSDT.aml
    com.apple.boot.plist
    SMBIOS.plist

    System Profiler correctly reports a new Hardware UUID value which I guess it must have got from my BIOS if I have understood your post correctly?

    I don't have a Windows install to give you a CPU-Z readout.

    If there's anything else you would need then just ask.

    Regards
    blackosx

    Hi Skipper,

    on my GA-EP45-DS3/Q9550 system I use:
    • fakesmc.kext (a must)
    • LegacyHDA.kext (Elmagomez thread, to make onboard audio working)
    • and still OpenHaltRestart.kext

    on my MSI-P55M-GD45/i7 system:
    • fakesmc.kext
    • RealtekR1000.kext

    The i7 is still experimental.

    I'm completely out of sync regarding all the cool DSDT development from mm67, MasterChief,... I guess and could trash OpenHaltRestart.kext too.
