So what's the problem? Black screen? Kernel Panic?

I'm not getting the QE/CI, have the full resolution of my monitor though. I set GraphicsEnabler = Yes, installed NVEnabler 64.kext, in verbose mode it said loaded NVDANV50Hal but nothing changes.

Any idea what else I need to check/fix?

What's your Device ID?

Try to activate your card with another method.
olarila.com • View topic - Basic guide about nVidia kexts, how to enable video drivers

Or an EFI string for the 9800GT:

Or try to replace NVDANV50Hal.kext from DP4. (Backup your old one first).

Thanks!

After did a test on a fresh ML installation on other partition, I realized I typo on my device id. Now I using the NVDANV50Hal.kext and NVDResman.kext from DP4 with device id injected, and I got the QE/CI working. But during boot up, I saw some text about NVEnabler probe fail, even though my graphics were smooth now.

Hi Rene, I've an MSI 9800GT 1GB that worked out of the box in SL and L, but now I can't even start the ML install process; I get a one second white screen and then the system reboots; tried to delete each and every NVIDIA kexts, tried the DP4 ones, tried NATIT and NVENABLER, tried every boot flag....nothing worked.

Any suggestions?

thanks in advance

This is about the post install. You are not there yet.

So, to install I used myHack and removed NVDANV50Hal.kext from install USB and was able to install.

This is what Conti (maker of myHack) says:
  • Symptom: The display goes blank or system reboots instantly after booting OS X or Installer
    Resolution 1: Boot with PciRoot=1
    Resolution 2: Boot with GraphicsEnabler=No (Only use if resolution 1 fails, will not work on ML unless you have one of the graphics devices which will provide hardware acceleration without GraphicsEnabler, or you have removed system extensions in order to force VESA mode).
  • Note: ML will not boot without graphics support as there is no longer VESA support. You will have to either replace your graphics card or find a method to get it working if it is not supported by GraphicsEnabler

Deleted NVDANV50Hal.kext, booted with PciRoot=1, same result. I have no other card to mount right now and no integrated graphics too, what else could I try?

Did you tried to boot with the deleted NVDANV50Hal with:
GraphicsEnabler=No -x -v
and with- or without PciRoot=1
and try some other combinations.

Are all the NVidia kext also deleted? Because this was not in my case. I had a clean install USB and only deleted NVDANV50Hal.

[Edit]
If you have a HDMI port you can also try a DVI2HDMI converter, worked for my GT430.

Yes, I tried every bootflag combination, I tried deleting all the NVIDIA kexts and also replacing them with LION ones, no result

No, I'm trying to install ML over an existing LION install,but the same result I had trying a fresh install. I just tried to replace the NVIDIA kexts in my USB stick with the ones of LION, with no result though

I think the best is to make a new myHack USB install stick.

But I will never update a Lion install. Make a new install and use the migration.app to migrate from Lion to Mountain Lion.

OK, but even with an USB stick I get the same problem

Running out of options. You can try this: Natit.kext.zip
But can you tell more specifically what get? Restart or KP or Black screen or just a freez or does the system only don't go into graphics mode (do you see the harddrive light)?

I get a white screen for a second or less and then the system automatically reboot, no kernel panic,even booting with -v the system seems to boot properly but in the end reboots.

Should I try the Natit kext alone or in combination with which other NVIDIA kexts?

No, try this first: put NVDANV50Hal back.

And try to boot with the following bootflags:
GraphicsEnabler=No PciRoot=1 UseKernelCache=No -x -v -f -F
(case sensitive)

or
PCIRootUID=1 instead of PciRoot=1
and you can aslo try:
PciRoot=0

Just try some other combinations.

If this doen't work try to add Natit.kext

And tell us if it doesn't reset anymore.

Yes, best is to start original. Later you can try the other methods :)

[Edit]
Can you also try another port on the video card?
