Unhappy Please I need help with my NVIDIA 8500GT 512MB to work 100%

    Hi,

I'm a noob in "Hackintoshing". I learned a lot of things in the last 7-8 days. At last my Hackintosh PC is almost completely finished. I have a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P with Intel Core 2 Duo Q9300 (at 2.5GHz) and 4GB of memory (DDR2 at 1066MHz). For the graphics, I have a NVIDIA 8500 GT (512MB) and thats where the problem starts.

In addition of installing Mac OS X on my PC I followed the "Install Snow Leopard on Your Hackintosh PC, No Hacking Required" from Lifehacker and Adam Pash with the only varriation of booting (I booted with iBoot 2.7.2 of Tonymacx86). Last thing I did was installing the EP45-UD3P package (the installation succedeed)

The installation went as it supposed to, but when it comes to graphics, my 8500GT is not working as it should be. Although Mac OS X gives me the 1920x1200 resolution I need, for my Dell U2410 display (worked out of the box) the OS shows me only this resolution. Just one.

Another problem is that System Preferences shows me that I dont have "Graphics by NVIDIA" it only shows me "GPU" and in VRAM it shows me "32MB". Again, when I am placing a gadget on the desktop I dont see the ripple effect.

I have to add that the only thing I did prior to make NVIDIA 8500GT to work was to :

    1. Run OSX86Tools and created an EFI String for my card (didnt work) and to
    2. Click on the "Enable Quartz etc..." in OSX86Tools again (in the upleft corner)

How can I fix my NVIDIA 8500 GT ?

PS : Oh, I forgot to say that my browsers (Safari,Chrome,Firefox) crash all the time when it comes to "Flash" sites. I think it is a "hardware-acceleration related" issue.. Right?

Give it a try to the NVEnabler.Kext
    1. Clean all EFI Strings, and/or other injectors.
    2. install the NVEnabler.kext. (you can do it with Kext Utility, just drop the NVEnabler.kext over the Kext Utility Icon, it will prompt your password, type it and let it work, once finished, restart and pray)
    3. Good Luck!

Hi, Toltuga! Thank you for your reply!

One question. How do I clear all EFI Strings and/or other injectors? I mean, where are those files and how I delete them?...These are specific files? They have to do with NVxxxx etc. etc.?

    Thank you a lot.

Update : I MADE IT!!! Thank you Toltuga! With your help (and a little Google help) I removed two lines in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist (source : //osx86.co/archive/index.php/t-2181.html (from user MX1333, thank you mate!) ) my NVIDIA 8500 GT is working !!!!

I can see the ripple when I release a gadget on the desktop, Front Row is working!)

Only thing is that, in System Preferences I cannot see Quartz Extreme. How can I see if it is enabled?

This is my System Preferences info for NVIDIA 8500GT 512MB :

niiiice, its good to hear that good news , you are welcome.

If you can see the ripples on dashboard you have the Quartz Extreme activated. Enjoy your hackintosh.

    I am so so happy!

Thank you and kexts.com. Without you guys this would be impossible!

    Muchas Gracias!

    PS : I used nvenabler64.kext

PS2 : I have a minor problem left, though I will create a new thread. It is related to the memory speed of my Hackintosh (it shows 800MHz but my memory runs at 1066MHz...when I run CPU-Z in Windows 7 it says 533Mhz, so it is well configured).

So it is an OS-related thing right? Its not working at 800MHz. Is there any program like CPU-Z for Windows on Mac OS X ? So I can check 100% that the memory runs at 1066MHz ?

    Thanks again!
