Thread: Is the GeForce 8400GS compatible With 10.6.8?

I've given up trying to get my HD5550 working under 10.6.8, so I figured it would just be easier to buy a cheap 8400GS, if it is supported. So my question is, will an 8400GS work correctly (like, will I be able to change the res, and maybe get HDMI audio) without me having to edit this file and download five kexts and do this and do that? I'm using the Chameleon bootloader, and OS X works fine, I have it updated to the latest version, I just can't stand the 1024x768 res. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Yes... But some DeviceID`s works better in 32bit...

So, essentially, I could install an 8400gs, type: GraphicsEnabler=Yes, before OS X boots and it would work? I know according to the wiki that's what I need to do, but I just want to make sure.

Never got mine to work in Snow Leopard,Lion works better for me

Never Mind.

Lion and 10.6.8 still gets the same error. Garbled screen. Only 10.6.7 works with fully QE

Lion boots without GraphicsEnabler, but then it's without QE.
