IOATAFamily for Lion | Size: 318.8 KB |
Here is a modded IOATAFamily (v2.5.1) from the 10.7.0 Lion Install Disk Image.
It enables booting and installing from SATA IDE Enhanced/Compatible Mode. It's for those who can't boot/install with AHCI nor have this option in BIOS. ONLY FOR ICHx-based SATA chipsets/southbridges. That means, no VIAATA or no JMicron.
It should also allow you to see all SATA ports in your system.
Tested and working on an Asus Maximus II Formula (P45) MotherBoard in Enhanced IDE SATA Mode.

Thank you very much !! Thanks to this I was able to boot iATKOS L1 lion from internal ICH8 SATA ports on my Asus P5B-DE motherboard (quite old piece of HW which does not support AHCI mode in BIOS and only Enhanced or Compatible). First I used Marvel SATA6G_M9128 PCI-Express SATA addon controller to boot iATKOS L1 10.7.1 lion and install it on drive connected to this controller. I was not able to boot it if I switched it to motherboard SATA port, then I replaced with your kext to /System/Library/Extensions and after reconnectiong to motherboard SATA Lion booted flawlesly. |

Hi, I am absolutely new to Mac OS. But, i am very much interested to install Mac on my Laptop (HP G42 355TU). This does not have the AHCI settings in the BIOS. I have downloaded the Mac OS X Lion from some torrents and when i try to install it, i get a error Unable to find driver for ACPI etc... At the right time, i came across your thread and found some relief. I have downloaded this file. But, as i am pretty new to Mac, i do not understand, how do i add this to my already downloaded Mac OS. Please note, i do not have any working installation of Mac with me or with my friend. I only have Windows 7. It would be great, if you could guide me how to add these files to the already download Mac Lion ISO file. Thanks in advance for your reply. |

I have an Asus P5B SE with an intel Q6600 my board does have achi but wouldn't boot unless the drive went trough the jmicron controller rather than the ich8 ports. I always got stuck on "still waiting for root". I am proud to report that thanks to this text I can boot from IDE enhanced on Lion 10.7.2! Thank you!! |

I just got a new drive today (I already had two) and I plugged the drive into sata3. OSX doesn't seem to recognize the drive in IDE mode, any chance you might have an idea for a fix? |
