Hi all,

First of all, this experience is done on my Toshiba R840 Tecra notebook with these specs:

Core i7
ATI Readon HD 6450 1GB
BIOS: Virtualization & Execute-Bit are enabled.

Finally after doing all possible kexts editing which at the end failed, Chimera 1.7 solve it simply (Also attached).

Here is the procedure:
After installing iAtkos_L2 10.7.2>>11C74 with some added features to the defaults (picture will be attached later)
  • ATY_Init
  • VoodooHDA
  • Network [Wired & Wireless]
  • Laptop Battery
  • PS2 Mouse
  • USB/USB3

Yesterday, and after installation, I tried to enhance some features (SleepEnabler, USB3, Audio, etc.), but the system failed.

So, I re-installed the whole system [probably the 10th time] but with certain choices before & after installation which made me understood how this iAtkos/OS X negotiate with hardware specs.

I'll list each hardware piece and its alternative solution:
  • VGA ATI Readon HD6450M 1GB/512MB, HD4670M:

Install Chimera 1.7 and then reboot with "GraphicsEnabler=No" and you'll still have the VGA not working, then go to Preferences>Boot Loader, and enable "Graphics Boot" and choose your resolution, and also enable "ATI ROM". Restart & you're done.**

  • Audio (Analog, HDMI output):

Choose VoodooHDA.kext during installation, or install it on a live system using kext utility (Drag n Drop the .kext file to the Kext Utility and it'll begin installing). Reboot and you'll see your sound card working, even the Microphone.

  • Trackpad (Works without multi-touch features):

It just works for navigation and both Right & Left clicks, no multi touch gestures !!
Install Trackpad.pref using the readme file. (Attached)

  • USB 3.0:

Choose during installation or Install manually usb3.pkg found on iAtkos_L2 DVD>>
    Library>Resources>Packages>usb3.pkg

  • SleepEnabler: (It crashed my system)

By default, any iAtkos distro doesn't support the Sleep feature, so by installing SleepEnabler.kext using Kext Utility will enable it immediately.

**I'm still figuring out how to support native 1366x768 resolution, I tried several resolutions, but nothing succeeded, and unfortunately I didn't find 1440x900 resolution which would work on my 14" screen. Can any one help??!

I'VE ATTACHED SEVERAL PICTURES FROM MY LAPTOP - DOWNLOAD REF.ZIP FILE.

You got your Toshiba R840 Tecra notebook to work 100% with Wireless, resolution and sounds? If you did I really want all the files you used? :-)

Yes Juminarie, I'm using Toshiba R840 notebook, and I didn't test the sound yet, but the wireless works great (Not all the networks). But my main problem is the native support for 1366x768 resolution.

I'll attach later several pictures from my installation. Don't worry.

Hi hanaheeno
I have a Sat Pro R850-10V *european version of Tecra) with the same graphics card and an i5.
Did you enabled full res. only on the VGA output and/or HDMI?
For trackpad did you find a solution?
Thank you.

Dear all,

See the first post, I modified it with new links.

@Jack0v0: If you found your device ID from "About this Mac" in the System>Library>Extensions>ATI6000Controller.kext>C ontents>Info.plist under <key>IOPCIMatch</key>

Go ahead and follow the instructions in the first post.

Installed Chimera, and after the reboot it made it take longer for OSX to load, and now I'm stuck at the main desktop which "appears" to be working (still at 1024x768) but I can't click anything, nothing animates, nothing happens, it's just frozen. Do I need to reinstall OSX now?

@mikeeey:
No, no need to re-install, everything is working, but because you have a small screen, the display turns black, so if you have an external monitor, connect it as I am doing right now.

I'm still searching for how to support 1366x768 on 14" screens.

@rangkok & @Евгений:
No need to for extra kexts, Apple support one kext for all ATI6xxx series, so what matters is to find your DEV_ID from "About this Mac" in the System>Library>Extensions>ATI6000Controller.kext>C ontents>Info.plist under
<key>IOPCIMatch</key>
If you find it, go ahead and install Chimera which will activate the Kext, if you didn't find it, add it in the same file mentioned above, and save the new kext then install it using Kext Utility.

Hi hanaheeno,
Did you succeed enabling the full res. of the internal display of the laptop?
