i managed to instal snow leopard and reboot from the boot-cd, instal asereBLN booter, copied extra folder to root (its the mac hard desk right), did all the remaining instructions, rebooted and got message boot0: error. rebooted from the cd, did a desk repair, again same thing. help please.

i remember last time i installed it, it was ok from the first installation. same system i just added 4GB ram recently (total 8).

any suggestions? thanks.

Why did you "reverted" to an old version (branch) of Chameleon? Not supported anymore. Anyway, it should work with it anyhow...

What do you mean by the "remaining instructions" ? < maybe at this point you did something that corrupted the boot loader, assuming was installed properly in the first time.

Reinstalling the boot loader again should fix that. Boot with cd-boot reinstall the booter and then reboot without the cd-boot. You could choose a newer version of Chameleon.

i used these instructions (had them from last time, more than a year ago)

http://www.osx86.net/guides-tutorial...-10-6-4-a.html

i already tried re-installing the bootloader, tried a newer one still does not work. i am not sure if there is any setting at bios i changed last time. when i reboot using the boot cd, still ther is no network, sound, video support.

where exactly i should copy the extra folder?

thanks.

Extra folder goes to where OS X is installed (partition/hdd) (mounting point) next to Applications etc

Bios settings: default with AHCI enabled, recommended 5561 (latest)

thanks user_01. appreciate your patience with me.

so i was copying the extra folder to the right place (thanks for confirming this). ACHI was enabled bios version 5561 confirmed.

i tried connecting the harddrive to a different SATA port and re-installing, same thing.

the problem is not only that it is not booting, but also network, sound and video support are not working even after installing the kexts.

You're doing "something" wrong...
Steps (simplified):

1. Boot the Mac OS X (10.6) disk with cd-boot and install
2. After, reboot installed Mac OS X (10.6) (hard disk) with the help of the cd-boot
3. Install boot loader (don't reboot if asked), copy Extra folder to Mac OS X (10.6) partition/hdd
4. Reboot without cd-boot
5. Install the rest of the kexts (audio, lan), reboot
6. Done

That's what I have been doing so far. I have done it more than 10 times so far with no luck.

I noticed (in windows) that there is no active partition in the drive where I installed leopard. I used this to set the partition of leopard as active but did not work.

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ind...howtopic=22844

It was asking me at the end to reboot but nothing.

I tried using the easybcd but did not neither.

finally it is working. i used another hard disk (the old 320GB one) and everything worked just fine from the first time. for some reason my 320GB drive could be identified and formatted as 250GB only. in my previous attempts that did not work i was using 1TB drive. is this related?

snow leopard updaed to 10.6.8 up and runnung OK.

i tried to install lion following this tutorial.

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ind...post&p=1676228

i followed all the steps (i think) created the lion install partition and another one for lion, booted into the lion install partition but got the spinning beach ball. i tried to rebbot into the snow leopard and it is not booting any more (probably because i replaced the extra folder in the snow leopard).

user_01, can you help please?

question: when i replace the extra folder in leopard, do i need to run the kext utility or something? also why my 320GB hdd's became 250GB only?

thanks
