This is for an ATI HD 5450 card with Mac OSX 10.6.8 only. Other people had done successful hacks with this card and 10.6.6ish or Lion. I updated the 10.6.8 ATI framebuffer with a hacked plist to get a working framebuffer on the OS I wanted!
1. Install the ATI5000Injector.kext in /Extra/Extentions this lets QE/CI/ and native resolutions work.
2. Install the ATIFramebuffer.kext in /System/Library/Extensions with your favorite kext installer tool. This is just the default 10.6.8 ATIframebuffer with some added info in it's plist. It will probably KP any other os! This kext lets DVD Player, PPT, and other programs work properly. Backup the original ATIFramebuffer.kext to be safe.
3. Repair permissions on both install locations.
4. Use Camelion wizard or something to set GraphicsEnabler=Yes and set ATIConfig=Eulemur. You can try other Configs as well but you must choose one. Without the ATIConfig set to something the framebuffer won't be enabled.
5. Restart and enjoy!

I don't know about everyone else, but my ASUS ATI Radeon HD 5450 worked OOB without all these kexts. I installed your modified ATIFramebuffer.kext using Kext Utility, since my DVD Player app keeps crashing, but it didn't solve the problem. |

UPDATE: After months of no DVD Player, I just realized that these kexts are lifesavers! Thanks! |
