  1. Broadcom 43XX Series Airport

This KEXT enables most Broadcom 4300 series wireless adapters to work as Airport. I have used this on a couple different setups.

    Installation involves several easy steps.
    1. Place the file Broadcom43XXFamily.kext into your /Extra/Extensions folder (see below if you do not have an /Extra/Extensions/ folder)
    2. This driver has dependencies on the IONetworkingFamily. This means you need to install that .kext as well. Go to /System/Library/Extensions/ and find IONetworkingFamily.kext and copy (using copy and paste) it to the desktop. (You cannot usually paste directly to the /Extra/Extensions/ folder due to permissions blocking that action.
    3. Drag the IONetworkingFamily.kext from your desktop to /Extra/Extensions/.
    4. Restart. Your card should be automatically detected.

If there is no /Extra/Extensions, just a file called Extensions.mkext, you will need to first create a folder called Extensions in Extra, then open and extract the contents of Extensions.mkext and place the contents into Extra/Extensions. Then remove Extensions.mkext (don't delete it, just move it to the desktop, you may need it later)

(Optional) If you desire, you can also place the Broadcom43XXFamily.kext into your /System/Library/Extensions, but I have not found this to be any more reliable or stable than just locating it in the /Extra/Extensions folder, and there is always the potential for a conflict if you modify your system. Add the file by dragging it onto KextHelper.

The following Chipsets should be supported

    BCM 4306
    BCM 4309
    BCM 4311 (Natively Supported)
    BCM 4315
    BCM 4318
    BCM 4320
    BCM 4321
    BCM 4322
    BCM 4323
    BCM 4323x Family
    BCM 4324
    BCM 4325
    BCM 4326
    BCM 4328
    BCM 4329
    BCM 4342

The following card models should be supported

    Belkin F5D7000
    Buffalo WL12-PCI-G545
    Linksys PCMCIA Card WPC54G
    Dynex DX-BNBC
    Dynex DX-BGDTC
    Netgear WN311B (v1 & 2)

Probably tons of other cards, as long as they have a supported chipset...

I take no special credit for this KEXT. Even though I have written this KEXT and made this available to the community, this hack can be done by anyone with a text editor and a little know how. My goal here is to make a KEXT available to the community that can be installed and will work on as many Broadcom chipsets as possible, and to do it in a Vanilla friendly way.

Added experimental rev2 kext which might add support for more cards. Still, if your card is not on the list or has a chipset not on the above list, don't be surprised if it doesn't work. If it does work, please post your Brand, model number, version number, and chipset.

  6. WG311T Kext for snow 10.6.3 and above

    Step
    1. removed AppleHPET.kext from /S/L/E
    2. Unzip IO80211Family.kext.32_64_DWA_522_WP300N
    3. install IO80211Family.kext from IO80211Family.kext.DWA_522_WP300N folder
    4. Edit IO80211Family.kext Info.plist, change pci168c,1c to pci168c,13

    http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=214180

( if airport can not configure )
    1. Go to /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist file
    2. Edit the string en0 to en1 ( or en2 or en3....., if you have other network cards ) and string
    IOInterfaceUnit
    0
    to
    IOInterfaceUnit
1 <--- this number shall reflect the one used in the other..
so if you have en1 it shoud be 1 and en2 should be 2 and so on.

Then just reboot and check your network settings. It should find a new Airport card.

    1. For my case, Atherosfix.kext only work on 10.6.3, when upgrade to 10.6.6 can not boot into SL.

    2. I tried Atheros AR5212 kext, but encounter a very rare problem - unable to switch on the airport.

The above solution helped me solve the problem.

This one is a great replacement for AttansicL1Ethernet.kext which was not working after waking up from sleep. It had to be reloaded manually.

Works on my Asus P5KC crosflashed with P5KR bios. Should work on other Asus models with AttansicL1 network chip.

  13. IOPCIFamily FOR BROADCOM WIRELESS 10.6.6

EXTREMELY AWESOME FILE. Had 10.6.4 working on my laptop with everything going right....decide to update to 10.6.6 ans get hit with my wireless card not being recognized/not being recognized properly. I'm very well versed with hackintosh systems, and this had me stumped. First the card wasn't recognized properly at all by the system settings and would not show my card under the network settings menu. Got it recognized by installing another broadcom wireless hacked kext for IO80211Family, but it would not "turn on" and just stayed off in the settings, and even the terminal commands were seen as being successful and recognized the card, but it still would not turn on. Que this fucking amazing file...it seems that after 10.6.4, something doesn't initialize on normal boot to flip the software "on switch" for the broadcom cards, mine specifically was a BCM4312. This file does just that, and after countless hours, and forums posts with lots of people having this problem I discovered this file and it needs more widespread coverage. I ONLY tested on a BCM4312 in a Dell Inspiron 1545, BUT I'm pretty confident this will work for anyone else seeing these problems listed. If you have exhausted all other methods, and know your card to have worked previously in Snow Leopard TRY THIS! Please, if you try it on other cards that won't "turn on" properly PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post in the comments, it'll take 2 seconds to put your card type and model and will save a lot of people time and I'll re-post elsewhere....thanks and happy hacking.

  19. HPhs2300mc8775.kext

I modified an original Sierra Watcher Lite installed kext so it would recognize my HP 2300 mc8775 3G card.

I changed the Vendor ID and the Product ID in the Info.plist to match the one in my 3g card.

I placed the kext in S/L/E, runned Kext Utility and restarted. Mac Network Preferences Panel discovered the service automatically after that.

Configure your APN, etc, etc, etc and surf.

I attached my modified Kext, the original Sierra Kext and the Kext Utility.

NOTE: I only modified the VendorID and ProductID in the Info.plist file in the original Kext. I will not be held responsible for any Kernel panics that you might have. Use at your own risk.
