  4. Laptop HP Pavilion G6-2209SS

    Hi people,

    This is a preliminary Mac OS driver installer for laptop HP Pavilion G6-2209SS with support for dual boot Bootloader. Maybe it can be installed on other HP Pavillion G6 series laptops, but in some cases additional fixes will have to be made.

    I want to thank the whole community for their efforts and content provided, because without these it would not be possible to create this installer.

    I would appreciate comments and suggestions!!

  5. Asmedia USB 3.0 Chip(1042) Fully Working Fix

    Hello,

    Here are the files for the Fully working Asmedia USB 3.0 Controller (1042) in Mac OSX 10.7.3. I have tested this with my Notebook Asus K53SC. It can work in other Version of Mac OSX as well but I haven't checked, so give a try.

    Everything works Sleep and shutdown but I haven't checked the performance with USB 3.0 devices since I don't have any USB3.0 devices but I'm sure it will work since the drivers are made for this chip itself.

    For shutdown and Sleep to work, it needs a DSDT fix.

    Here is the DSDT fix and steps for everyone who has Asmedia 1042 USB 3.0 Controller to try it.

    Steps:
    1. First, find where your device is connected by looking at the IORegistry using IORegistryExplorer app.
    Example:- Mine was connected to PCI0->RP04->PXSX
    2. Add the Following method to PXSX

    Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized)
    {
    Store (Package (0x0A)
    {
    "AAPL,clock-id",
    Buffer (One)
    {
    0x02
    },
    "AAPL,slot-name",
    Buffer (0x07)
    {
    "Slot-4"
    },
    "name",
    Buffer (0x18)
    {
    "ASMedia XHCI Controller"
    },
    "model",
    Buffer (0x28)
    {
    "ASMedia ASM1042 USB 3.0 xHCI Controller"
    },
    "device_type",
    Buffer (0x0F)
    {
    "USB Controller"
    }
    }, Local0)
    DTGP (Arg0, Arg1, Arg2, Arg3, RefOf (Local0))
    Return (Local0)
    }

    3. Install the Kext attached and fix permissions

    Optional Step:

    You can update your firmware to latest version using the File (Firmware_Upd) attached.
    For me everything working in this and as well as before firmwaresl.

    UPDATE: Added the New and Fixed Kexts for Both Lion and Mountain Lion.

    Hope it helps.

  13. Asus N56VM / N76xx Extra, Extensions ML

    Due to may Dell M1530, which the GPU has burned I was in search for an hackintosh replacement.
    This Asus N56VM performs well also after some tweakes and searching the web. I found this website:
    http://ukrainianiphone.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=24683&st=20&start=20

    Proof:

    Which provide all the necessary information about running OSX 10.8.1 ;-) thanks to marklangovoi / M-dudarev who did a lot of research!
    My ASUS is running very well, 2hours on full battery!

    IMPORTANT; use an MBR harddisk configuration instead of GPT! otherwise the HDD or SSD won't be recognized by the BIOS! use 2 partition by dual boot, first OSX, 2nd Windows 7.

    Working:
    - Intel HD 4000 Q/E full HD 1920 x 1080
    - Wifi with changing the original to an AR9285 half sized card
    - Ethernet /S/L/E/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/Plugins/ALXEthernet.kext (http://www.osx86.net/view/3446-atheros_ar8131-32-51-52-61-62-71-72.html)
    - Bluetooth with Asus usb BT21 dongle (now also use of my Magic mouse) + Airdrop!
    - Battery indicator works!
    - Sound, speakers, mic, earphones!
    - USB 2.0 (usb 3.0 didn't used so far?)
    - Function keys (only sound keys; FN + F10,11,12 / ALSO: F5 & F6 Brightness control)
    - Trackpad (only cursor, not scrolling with two fingers)
    - restart, shutdown
    - DVD burner
    - SD card reader (working > BIOS > USB configuration > XHCI > Smart auto + override USB drivers)
    - Sleep!
    - Elan touchpad (http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=3472)

    Not (yet) working:
    - Full Nvidia GT630m (to disable: http://www.applelife.ru/threads/nvidia-optimus-%D0%B2%D1%8B%D0%BA%D0%BB%D1%8E%D1%87%D0%B0%D0%B5%D0%BC-nvidia.36346/)
    - Webcam, only light flashes but doesn't turn on by photo booth

    I found also extra information of the ACPI files (for linux):
    http://dev.iksaif.net/projects/acpi4asus
    http://dev.iksaif.net/issues/242#change-995
    Maybe someone can port this project...

    Also information about the bios mod to enable discrete GT6xx instead of HD4000
    http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-ASUS-N56VZ-XTU-unlock-requested%3Fpage%3D3&usg=ALkJrhhmf6LqNwAE5rFCDY5N27l3VeInhw
    Good luck!

    Update (18-10-2012):
    Just start with this link here is a lot of info to boot with an USB dongle:
    http://olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1627

    USB write program:
    ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/kiwi/ImageWriter.exe

    Image for usb :
    http://kat.ph/os-x-10-8-mountain-lio...-t6526209.html

    Follow the instructions, but replace the files with the one's here above (extra + extensions to replace)
    instructions of replacement:
    1) replace the current folder Extra with the one extra folder in this zip.
    2) copy the extensions to replace in this zip to: /System/Library/Extensions

    One of my experience; DON'T use the new BIOS 211 or 214 from asus! version 206 works fine! or flash back with "winflash /nodate"

  21. DP3 USB Files

    Here are the 2 USB kext files from DP3 needed to get USB 3.0 PXHCD kext working in ML. Also included is the AppleUSBAudio.kext from DP3 as well. This fixes the issue of USB audio devices not working if you only install the other two kexts in final ML.
    Thanks to the original poster for figuring this out. I just hunted down and added the audio kext to improve the workaround.
    Cheers,
