About This File

--UPDATE MAY 19th--

the project john was working on was cancelled...

--UPDATE APR 29th--

just thought i would share the news here but on this page John has finally got QE/CI working on GMA 4500M, when the driver will be released idk but i will help him make a 64 bit driver of this as i am on mountain lion and i was getting pretty close myself but i couldn't figure it out so maybe with his knowledge of the driver and mine of the 64 bit kext we can finally have a fully supported up-to-date system!

--UPDATE APR 7th---

for those of you who are having problems with brightness on your computer's go here and follow the directions.it worked for me smile.png

--UPDATE SEPT 16th--

Intel GM45 (GMA 4500MHD) in laptops/tablets work fine need backlight fix

seems not to work for Q chipsets

Intel GS45 (GMA 4500MHD)seems unstable...

Intel GL40 works flawlessly (my chipset wink.png )

@macos665 install 2A32AppleIntelGMAX3100FB.kext in ML and reboot then got a black screen, and the lcd monitor says resolution is beyond 1280x1024. I guess the second monitor will work but i don't have another montior right now. Had tried GraphicsEnabler set to Yes/No but not help. -v there is one output: Invalid firmware max backlight setting . Can you help me?

Hi macos665,

I've tried your two kexts both 32 and 64 bits and i always end in a blue screen

and apparently a frozen hack. I have SL 10.6.8 and i've also tried to remove the

other AppleIntelGMAX3100 folders from /S/L/E but the only difference was ending with a gray

screen instead.

My 4500 is a 2a42 rev 07 should i have some other version of the AppleIntelGMAX3100 folders

for this to work.

Best regards,

P.S. i'm able to use an older version of AppleIntelGMAX3100FB.kext ( from leopard i think )

which does not depend on the other folder to work. With that one and some DSDT patching

along with genericbrightness.kext i also get a fully working brightness slider/keys.

My screen backlighting kinda flicker with this one. Everything else works perfectly, but flicker makes it unusable.. Any hint? I'm on a Acer 1810TZ (same as 1410) with GMA 4500M and 1.7.2

Hi there,

I have a gateway NV7922u i5-430M with intel HD graphics and 128MB memory (which I cannot change in the BIOS). Without these kexts I boot 10.7.0 fine. However I only can get 1024x796 eventhough my system can support up to 1600x900.

I've tried these kexts with setting GraphicsEnabler to yes and no as well as adding a support resolution setting with the Graphics Mode option in the com.boot.plist file but still to no avail. I use a custom DSDT and I'm booting with the latest Chimera version.

How can I get more resolutions other than 1024x768???

Thanks in advance for any help...

PS...thanks for all your hardwork on these!!!! Much appreciated!

@azak30 Thank you! I had to uncheck the GraphicsEnabler in the Chameleon Wizard and now it's BEAUTIFUL!

I do have another question. The Zip came with Quartz Debug. I follow the README file, but every time I quit Quartz Debug... all the setting reset back to the way it was. Do I have to do that every time manually?

Dude, I got a Lenovo G450 laptop. Almost all the kext I have is working except the graphics/display. I can enable the native resolution using the GraphicsEnabler but the main problem is the QE/CI. My chipset is Mobile Intel? 4 Series Express Chipset Family which I think is GMA X4500? Am I right? Does your kext enable QE/CI? I'll wait for you reply. Thanks dude. Cheers.
