About This File

Script to patch AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement for Sandy Bridge systems. It searches for write operations to MSR 0xE2 in otool output, so it should work for any version. Tested with all versions from 10.6.8 to 10.8 DP2.

Written by el coniglio, based on SpeedStepper.

Thanks to flAked and dmazar.

Usage: perl AICPMPatch.pl [--patch]

In terminal

cd ~/Downloads/AICPMPatch

List wrmsr (without patching)

perl AICPMPatch.pl /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement

List and patch wrmsr

sudo perl AICPMPatch.pl /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement --patch

Sorry, I forget to mention that script was working for kext in OSX version 10.7.4. More over ASUS N73SV native speedsteper seems also to work without any mentioned CPU-options set.

EDIT :

no no no, the screen goes off on AC power .. on battery power just try to sleep as usual and you have to force power off.

So it's not usefull for me but thanks 4 your work ;-)

This patch is ONLY intended to avoid KP caused by write operations to MSR 0xE2, it's not directly related to sleep problems.

This solved my problems on MSI with H67 chipset and i5 2500. If the authors ever wanted to hold a seminar on troubleshooting ACPI issues that lead to solutions like this, I'd be very interested. Thanks for all the hard work!
