Extra/Extensions folder could be used for both Snow Leopard and Lion.

In fact, if using Snow Leopard, your "extra" kexts should be kept there for a more vanilla (untouched) OS. Or pack them into Extensions.mkext (use an older version of Kext Utility (double-click on it, and it'll create the .mkext). And the ones that won't work from this location (E/E), could easily be installed to S/L/E. Or, you could just install all to S/L/E and lose the E/E folder. Either way it's fine.

But, in Lion this was "drop" by Apple in the favour of "KernelCache" implementation. So, if the E/E folder is present (not really a good idea) the system will boot every time recreating Caches (it's like typing -f at boot). To take advantage of the "KernelCache", the kexts in E/E should be installed to S/L/E (Kext Utility for Lion), and edit org.chameleon.Boot.plist with UseKernelCache set to Yes (Use Chameleon Wizard to do this easily).

Do you have both Snow Leopard and Lion on the same disk? Give some details.

Did you use GraphicsEnabler and NVEnabler.kext at the same time? I told you not to. Just one method at a time !!!

You didn't answer the question: When you boot with cd-boot do you have QE/CI enabled? Just open DVD Player app and tell me if it gives you an error or not.

thanks.

i first made sure that GraphicsEnabler is set to yes, booted did not work. removed it from org.chameleon.Boot.plist and installed the NVEnabler, booted same thing. the qe/ci seem to be working when booted from the cd-boot (only judging from the visual responsivness of the screen). i will verify this in system properties or something tonight as when i boot with the cd-boot the resolution is low (i think 1024x768) compared with the normal boot at 2560x1440. i will try the DVD player as suggested.

all osx partitions (total 4) are in one 250GB hdd first partition for snow leopard (104GB), second one for lion (104GB), third for lion installation (20GB), forht one is a clone of snow leopard partition (first partition).

now when i boot from the cd-boot, it boots with 2560x1440 screen resolution (may it is related to the NVEnabler.kext) but now there is no response from the system. i can only move the mouse but cannot select or run anything, keyboard not working as well. i had to power it off to restart. i also tried this kext. so i couldn't try the DVD player when booted from the cd-boot.

but did not work. same thing no video and no finder.

1. This should be the correct NVEnabler.kext for your card. Try it WITHOUT any other "methods" (injectors). Install it to S/L/E. Delete any previous versions of it, if present.

http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=2587

2. If it doesn't work as expected (QE/CI enabled, crashes etc), go to S/L/E and delete these kexts:

GeForce7xxx & NVDAResmanG7xxx

(make a backup of them, just to be safe, copy them to a "safe" folder)

(also report if Flash Player in Safari works)

3. If that doesn't work either and you are using a dsdt.aml file, send me the file and i'll try and patch it for you, so that the card will work.

PS: What's the brand of the card?

hi user_01, I'm back.

i installed the NVEnabler from the link above, deleted the natit and NVEnabler_64 kexts then installed the new one, booted, i see the boot screen with the spinning circle, then the display goes to sleep while the system is running. i could not get the display to work, had to power off then on to leopard.

deleted GeForce7xxx & NVDAResmanG7xxx rebooted, same thing display goes to sleep, had to ower off then on again.

deleted the new NVEnabler and booted into lion using -f (to reload system cache) booted up with low resolution and finder working. installed flash tried safari OK but started DVD player and it crashed (DVD player).

i am using the same dsdt.aml file from the extra folder of the 1073 DX58SO pack you posted here. if you still need to see it, could you please tell m how send it to you.

thanks and regards

Always a good idea, to extract and patch you own dsdt. Can be done with DSDT Editor. Remove other if present.

To send it to me, upload it somewhere and give link. (PM)

Did you try GraphicsEnabler with "step 2"?

i installed this kext

http://www.osx86.net/view/2532-crazy_natit_***all_nvidia***.html

and it seems to be working, flu resolution, finder working, video is working, DVD player OK.

i thank you very much user_01 for your help and guides.

i guess now i will try it for few days before updating to 10.7.3 (i will post results here).

are there any files left over from the kexts i tried that i need to manually delete?

If you delete the kext, that's it! After updating to 10.7.3, you'll need to delete those 2 kexts again.

GeForce7xxx & NVDAResmanG7xxx

Hi folks!

I got a DX58SO (indeed) with a GTX 260 video card. I've tried Mountain Lion install using myHack but it just reboots when starting Darwin.

I've tried changing PCIRootUID=0, GraphicsEnabler=No, and i've tried to add the dsdt.aml (untouched) with all the extensions in Extras folder (HDA, fakesmc, IOAHCI, IONetworking, LegacyALC, NullCPU, OHR) and i got no change.

It's a damn hell, never had an installation problem since the first x86 OSX. Help would be greatly appreciated ! :)

DX58SO Guitare

remember the myHack has as the default setting PCIRoot=0, you should type: PCIRoot=1 and GraphicsEnabler=No. This will boot it. Do not Type PCIRootID=0, it hasn't work for you because you have never change the PCIRoot setting since you where typing it wrong and with the same default setting.
