About This File

Special boot file version r875 for the ATI 5650m card thanks to willianhzp that posted on a chinese forum so i could upload in here.

If you get a scrambled screen you can make these steps:

1. Install SwitchResX if you haven't already, set the resolution to your liking.

2. Boot to Windows and retrieve your EDID using the ELDIM - EDIDViewer(Google it). Once you have the EDID saved somewhere you can access (online, text file, USB key, whatever), reboot to OSX. 2. Once you have your EDID, boot OSX (using screen sharing, if the screen is unusable) and open SwitchResX. Drag this file to your Desktop: /System/Library/Displays/Overrides/DisplayVendorID-756e6b6e/DisplayProductID-717?, and rename it to *.plist. Open it with Plist Editor Pro, and add your EDID (You must have to copy your edid in the text file you have saved from Windows and paste in there with the same template code) . Once done, remove the .plist extension, overwrite the /System/Library/Displays/Overrides/DisplayVendorID-756e6b6e/DisplayProductID-717 file, and reboot.

It's the RAW Data you have to paste on macOS but you took the wrong EDID because your RAW Data just have zeros 0 and it must have an hexadecimal code. When you open the EDIDViewer we have 3 options/profiles to choose and just one has the right RAW Data code. When you open the DisplayProductID-717 file with Plist Editor Pro at the button you have the RAW Data to replace and don't paste the 0x00 0x10 0x20... codes from the beginning of the lines, just the hexadecimal code.

And other thing os that when you paste the RAW Data code it must have to be with this template XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX... or else it PlistEditor doesn't let you to save the file.

So I have full 3d on external display and I have video on my LCD (Acer Aspire 7714G-7017) however I receive 3 to 12 different images on the same screen. "kinda like multiple monitors on the same monitor. The number of screens depends on which aticonfig I use.

I have my edid and extracted my bios but nothing seems to work. My kexts are also patched with vendor and device id.

Any help would be great! I have tried everything 5 times lol.

Thanks in advance

Additional Infov

Video: ATI 5650M

Display: 17.3 inch with EDID

statusphere: did you installed switchresx? Try to use differents framebuffers(aticonfig), i would try Nomascus in your case and don't write the AtiConfig on the boot screen because with me it doesn't work, i had to put in the /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist file

Thank you for your help. I will try your suggestions and post back. I installed swotchres but i did not try framebuffers using the boot.plst. I was typing them at the boot screen.

Thanks again - will post back with results

statusphere: Try to change the resolution screen after you boot with Preferences > Monitor or with Switchresx panel in preferences with the right resolution by vnc or logmein

Hey, i have an acer aspire 8943g. first gen i3 processor (on board graphics card as well). i also have another GPU. the lovely ATI Mobility Radeon 5650. In windows this GPU blows me away. recently i have tried installing mac os x MANY times. all different variations and things. now i have decided to try the {censored} method along with MB{censored} and xmove to get lion. once i do this, i have done some research and found the the ati grahics card has given people lots of trouble. first question i would like to ask is, is the intel on board GPU good? is it good enough to support QE/CI? if so how would i make my laptop jst recognize that GPU? either way i want to try using this method. i have read it over and over and it makes sense to me on what i have to do but just want to verify, this will enable the ati mobility radeon for QE/CI correct? it will work for games and the resolution will be correct? Can you please give me some advise on this since i am not really sure what to do..

thankyou very much in advanced.

i forgot to mention, my laptop is 18.4 inches and my windows default res is 1920x 1080, if this works with mac os and QE/CI this would be fantastic.

I don't get where what to copy from my EDD file. I copied the data into text format from windows. Do I just copy the RAW Data set of number at the end. But where do i put them in PlistEdit Pro file?
