x4500 with Quartz Extreme/GL backlight fixed 1.0

About This File

Working kexts for intel x4500 with backlight fixed. Kext taken from insanelymac, changed to obtain quartz and fix some bugs.

1. Delete all graphics kext specially x3100 and x3100FB, install this one with kexthelper

2. restart

3. Download XQuartz-2.6.1.dmg, install, reboot

4. Go to finder and type: Quartz Debug ----> Tools--->Enable Quartz Extreme, Enable Quartz GL

*****************************UPDATED*******************************

5. sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver QuartzGLEnabled -boolean YES

*****************************UPDATED*******************************

6. Youre ready to go !!!

I WAS IN MISTAKE, NOT EVERYTHING WAS ENABLED, IF YOU WANT TO DO SO TYPE IN TERMINAL WHATS IN 5 POSITION IN THIS LIST (BETWEEN TWO ***UPDATED*** SIGNS)

BUT I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT BECAUSE IT WONT INCREASE YOUR PERFORMANCE, IT WILL DECREASE IT. WHY ? GOOGLE IT. ;)

I'VE DONE IT AND EVERYTHING WAS SO LAGGY, WHEN I TRIED TO DISABLE IT I HAD TO REINSTALL MY SYSTEM ;/ SO IF YOU WANT TO DO IT IT WILL BE PERMANENT UNTIL NEXT REINSTALL OF SYSTEM. TAKE IT TO THE CONSIDERATION!!!

OR MAYBE ON YOUR PC IT WILL BE BETTER I DONT KNOW.

AND SOMETHING ABOUT SOME USERS WHO SAYING THAT THIS KEXT DOESNT WORKING. I'VE OBTAINED TO MAKE IT WORKING BY CHANGING THE INVERTER FREQUENCY IN THIS DRIVERS. SO IF IT DOESNT WORKING THEN YOU HAVE TO HAVE OTHER HARDWARE SORRY ;)

Ok next thing, many of you will say 'theres no info about quartz enabled in Hardware Overwiev but trust me its enabled. If you dont believe type:

"Check if Quartz Extreme is enabled:

sudo -s

defaults read /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver GLCompositor

If it is enabled, you should read:

{tileHeight = 256; tileWidth = 256; }"

"Check if Quartz 2D Extreme is enabled:

defaults read /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver Quartz2DExtremeEnabled"

if says : 1 its enabled

Text in the brackets was taken from

http://wiki.awkwardtv.org/wiki/Enable_Quartz_Extreme_and_Quartz_2D_Extreme

If you have some question just write in the comment section below.

cu

Ohh one more thing, this drivers work only on x86 arch, its not compatible with x64 !!!

the bar wont be transparent because you dont have info in you hardware overwiev in graphics that its supporting Quartz but its working trust me."

Don?t work QE/QI... Not only because the bar isn?t transparent, but because all the program that need Quartz to run, don?t run!

just partially working.I don't if it's same (i know here are 2 kexts more :) ), but on my Mac the result is same like this.My x4500:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2a42] (rev 07)
Using dsdt , chameleon rc5, MacOS 10.6.81. I installed kexts with kexthelper2. After installation, i run myfix on that drive3. After myfix finished, I got panic, next restart was with "-i" argument, which didnt boot, panic. Next reboot was good.4. I activated QuartzGL with OSX86ToolsSo far it's step ahead :). It's partially working. Can move chess pieces, rotate background pictures and desktop looks smoother. MacOS is loading faster, Dock and all other things are loaded much faster. What is not working:1. Can't make screenshots2. Can't see pictures3. Can't watch videos (tried VLC enabling and disabling different settings like OpenGL)good work thanks, hopefully there is soon a solution

kexts work on acer aspire 5734z running 10.6.8 Snow Leopard., intel GMA 4500m native res only, QE/CI not working, although Terminal shows that QE is enabled, in Quartz Debug --->Tools ---> i can't click Enable Quartz Extreme, Quartz GL not supported.. is QE really enabled? if not, what should i do? thanks for the native res anyway..

hi all

i wasnt available cause of the job ;/ it took me whole my time... ive made those drivers and my wish was to do as best drivers as its possible.... yeah some of features doesnt work but there was a dozen users that couldnt even use x4500 due to no backlight ... but yeah.... there ale always some users like 'tehnubbz' that only wait for some new driver... but with no participation in making it... hes just a scrounger... nothing else.... do something by yourself... ;] lol
