IOPCIFamily FOR BROADCOM WIRELESS 10.6.6 1.0

About This File

EXTREMELY AWESOME FILE. Had 10.6.4 working on my laptop with everything going right....decide to update to 10.6.6 ans get hit with my wireless card not being recognized/not being recognized properly. I'm very well versed with hackintosh systems, and this had me stumped. First the card wasn't recognized properly at all by the system settings and would not show my card under the network settings menu. Got it recognized by installing another broadcom wireless hacked kext for IO80211Family, but it would not "turn on" and just stayed off in the settings, and even the terminal commands were seen as being successful and recognized the card, but it still would not turn on. Que this fucking amazing file...it seems that after 10.6.4, something doesn't initialize on normal boot to flip the software "on switch" for the broadcom cards, mine specifically was a BCM4312. This file does just that, and after countless hours, and forums posts with lots of people having this problem I discovered this file and it needs more widespread coverage. I ONLY tested on a BCM4312 in a Dell Inspiron 1545, BUT I'm pretty confident this will work for anyone else seeing these problems listed. If you have exhausted all other methods, and know your card to have worked previously in Snow Leopard TRY THIS! Please, if you try it on other cards that won't "turn on" properly PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post in the comments, it'll take 2 seconds to put your card type and model and will save a lot of people time and I'll re-post elsewhere....thanks and happy hacking.

Ok, I'm getting confused, on windows 7 it says I have this broadcom 0x14E4 bcm4313 but when I run Hardware option iAtkos s3 v2 10.6.3 installer, it says my broadcom is 14E4:4315, then bcm4312 LP-PHY, ok... WTF is going on? Which ones right because I've been trying alot of kexts that didn't work, my card is alrdy detected but unable to turn on! Specs HP Mini 110-1006TU (basically 110 series) andy atherosclerosis Ethernet ain't working too, it's 0x111D AR8132 & it stated compatible w/ 8384, then on Mac it says 1969:1062 AR8132. Which one should I google!??

I have confirmed that this will not work with Broadcom BCM4312 , BCM4315 on HP Mini 110 1006TU (mostly 110 similar series) which is listed on Windows 7 on hardware id's 0x14e4 bcm4313, and on Mac OS installer Hardware Info its listed as 14e4:4315 bcm4312 LP-PHY, i justed used Kext Helper b7 to install it, after repairing disk permissions and rebooting, i cant reboot anymore even with all kinds of boot flags like -v -x -f busratio= and cpus= , this kext will kill your OS unless you know a better way to install this kext than what i did? @tepifan unless you know a better way or a hacked way to install the Kext with step by step instructions, this kext would just kill the OS you installed on using Kext Helper b7 and even with repair permissions, it wont reboot anymore, i had to reinstall... altho one thing i thinked before messing the OS again, i tried using the 80211Family Kexts from HP Mini Essentials which was working from 10.5.5 to 10.5.8, installed using Kext Helper b7 + repair disk permissions, then rebooted, and it worked.. it can only detect the card tho... but i cant turn Airport On... then i tried copying the IO80211Family, LAN9500Family, IOUSBFamily and its still can detect the Airport Card but cant connect, i also tried copying the IOPCIFamily and IONetworkingFamily and it is still the same situation... It can detect the Wifi Card but cant Turn Airport ON.. atleast this trials doesnt sabbotage my Mac OS Installation.. like this IOPCIFamily kext provided here... -_-'

By the way... the way the Blue Light or the Red Light turns to Pink with both Red and Blue that turns it to Pink also was working like before on 10.5.5-10.5.8 but the only problem on 10.6.+ Snow Leopard is... we CANT TURN AIRPORT ON!!... but when booting up... the Pink Color is working and pops-up and the Mac OS can DETECT the Airport Card but we just simply CANT Turn it ON...

I had the same problem as Dickies, my system (iAtkos L2 - Lion 10.7.2) would always get Kernel Panic while booting after installing this kext.

You don't need to reinstall if you have a backup of the original kext. In my case I installed with Kext Utility and it made a copy of the kext as IOPCIFamily.kext.bak in S/L/E. If you don't have this file just download a good (working) kext and modify the last command with the path to your kext.

To restore it, you need to boot from your installation disk/usb drive, open the terminal (Utilities --> Terminal) and execute the following commands (tip: if you don't remember your volume name, type "ls /Volumes":

cd /Volumes/the-name-of-your-osx-partition/System/Library/Extensions

rm -r IOPCIFamily.kext

mv -r IOPCIFamily.kext.bak IOPCIFamily.kext

Now reboot and you're done!
