About This File

I updated this injector to work with 10.8.x

With this injector, you no longer have to patch/touch/hack the original IO80211Family.kext (specifically, the plugin AirPortAtheros40.kext) every time there's a system update.

Tested with AR5B95 (pci168c,2b)

Just install this kext using your favourite Kext installer into /System/Library/Extensions

@sherlocks, I never had a need to make any mods to kext's for bluetooth. I have tried 3 different bluetooth adapters and all just work. Besides, I did not write the wifi injector but found it on this site and modified it to work with Mountain Lion so I cannot take credit for it. So I am not an expert at writing kexts from scratch.

What bluetooth module do you have that requires a mod to the stock kext ?

@sherlocks OK that combo module is more complex than just injecting Device ID & Vendor ID.

If it is the one I am thinking of (AR3011), then an injector will not help.

Look on this site here and try mlydinesh's bluetooth kext (you will not need the wifi kext if you use my wifi injector)

@Matgen84, I am afraid the AR9485 is not Mac OS compatible :(

It can be not be enabled simply with a device-id injector.

Best to buy an AR5b95 off ebay for $5 and replace yours and it will work.

@sherlocks, I did not update. When I bought Mountain Lion and downloaded it, the version downloaded was already 10.8.2. If you have already bought it, you can delete the Mountain Lion App from your Applications folder and them from App Store, you can download Mountain Lion again (without buying it again). I think if download it now, it will be version 10.8.3 (but for sure it will be 10.8.2).

@tooljose88, AR9271 is not supported by OSX. There are not kexts for this device so the injector cannot work. Sorry.

You can easily replace the module with a supported version as explained above.

@plsh2me, Great to know know it works on AR5B195 :encouragement:

BTW, that device also has bluetooth builtin. Did you get that to work ?

@chaitanya428, no idea. You have to find out which wifi module it has installed. If it is Aethros AR5B95 family then yes. If it is broadcom, then no. You need to do some basic research.

@Mashiulkarim, I believe that HP model uses Realtek wi-fi, and not Aethros.

You need to check exactly which wi-fi controller you have.

Google is your friend as to how to do that.
