Hi! I believe the only file you need to remove before installing the new files is RtWlanU.kext

You can do that by running the following commands:

cd /System/Library/Extensionssudo kextunload RtWlanU.kextsudo rm -r RtWlanU.kext

I don't know about modified systems such as iatkos... We don't know what modifications were made so we can never be sure if it is because of them or not.

Hi, I am on Yosemite 10.10.5. The USB WIFI is Netgear WNA3100M. The device just constantly reconnect and the wireless network utility shows it's disconnected (but it can find available networks). Any ideas? Thanks!

I'm not sure but maybe you already have some related kexts in the /System/Library/Extensions folder ..?

Please run this command and see if it returns something:

ls /System/Library/Extensions/ | grep RTL8

I will have to add an uninstaller script if this is the reason of the failure.

Thanks!

Tried to install it but already failed with message "wrong OS". My OS is 10.11...No idea why that happens though the driver is El Capitan ready? I tried the command you posted to Steve-luo (ls /System/Library/Extensions/ | grep RTL8), but no return code.

I have recently (week ago) upgraded OSX to 10.11 (from 10.10).

I've downloaded RTL all-in-one installer but it reports that is not compatible with OSX version I have:

http://tinypic.com/r/n19cte/8

If I choose to ignore, at the end of installation process, it reports failure:

http://tinypic.com/r/9i7g1s/8

?

I am unsure what the problem is, but looks like there's some compatibility issue with OSX 10.11 and installer itself.

?

Anyone experienced the same issue?

Hi!

?

Installer is not working on OS X 10.11. I found this console message error:

?

Help me, Obi-Wan, you're my only hope!!

?

Ok, seriously, you have given me hope with this, I have an unknown issue with my airport, bluetooth is fine, and I replaced the card and it didn't change. And any usb adapters were iffy before El Capitan.?

?

I am having the same problems installing, it fails to install. I tried the terminal commands you suggested, not sure if I am entering it wrong, but the commands don't respond. I don't actually have an adapter at the moment, I don't want to buy another one until I know I can install the software/drivers.?

?

Any tips you can provide would be so helpful!!!!

Thanks alot vbin and m.gbt! The file is working with some tweaking neccessary, but - great!!

?

OS X 10.11.1, installer fails with errors (same as posts prior to mine).

1) So - in the installer screen, before installation begins, one needs to click on "customise" and de-select "StatusBarApp", since this one generates the error (possible from System Integrity Protection SIP)

2) installer then finishes successfully, restart, and plugin your external wifi

3) open Network Utility App from /Applications, select hotspot, click connect

4) go to System Prefernces -> Network, and if not dhcp, setup your new connection!! Tada! :)
