This hacked kext is intended for NEC/Renesas chip sets (BOTH two and four port models), Etron Tech chip sets and UPDATED FIRMWARE ASMedia chip sets, and only those.

If your machine has two ASMedia chip sets, say, one for the usual rear panel and one for the front panel, as the Shuttle SH67 does, and you install, say, a four port ASMedia PCI-e card, then all of those will work PROVIDED all have had their firmware updated.

The first will be assigned bus number 0x00 (0), the second 0xff (-1) and the third 0xfe (-2).

The updated ASMedia firmware is included in a HUGE update from ASUS which is intended to update its ASMedia-equipped mobos.

This update only runs on Windows and has three parts, the second of which contains the firmware update, and the third of which contains mobo-specific updates, but which will fail on a non-ASUS product.

If the first AND the second updates run successfully, then your ASMedia chips ... ALL OF THEM ... will have been updated successfully.

If you get a failure during phase two, stating that the firmware could not be found, then you have a defective updater from a non-ASUS site, and you should go to the ASUS site and download the complete update package.

Works fine with USB 3.0 Go Flex 4tb drive. Running on EX58-UD5 / i7 920 (oc'd to 3.5) / 12 gb ram / GTX 560 (with 2gb ram).

Installed with kext utility. No need for rollback. Works with 10.8 Retail IOUSBFamily.kext and IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext

Just want to add that doing what Nakamoto says, makes my computer see Super Speed USB, but it won't let me connect any devices (camera).

Can anyone get it to work ?

I also tested a TI 7340-based card and it works, too !

( adding 0x8241104c to IOPCIPrimaryMatch, connecting a power cable )

You need to edit PXHCD.kext/Contents/Info.plist to add your specific hardware ID.

Mac OS X kernel extension/application is actually a directory.

You should search web to know more in detail.

As the driver is loaded (so you can mount your USB3.0 HD at least), your device's ID is already there. You do not have to do anything.

You might want to :

1. Test with another USB 3.0 device if you have some, as I have experienced compatibility/stability problems with some devices before.

2. Update Renesas firmware if necessary. (Search Web!)
