[TIPS] APFS Linux Driver (Free)

Recommended Posts

Hello, guys!

Today, I'm here to present you an Open Source APFS driver for Linux, Developed by Simon Gunder and distributed under GNU.

This driver offers the ability to mount APFS Volumes and DMGs and, for now, the driver is "Read Only" and it is properly working with APFS volumes generated in macOS Mojave (10.14).

The usage is very simple, to mount a Volume or DMG file;

apfs-fuse <volume_to_mount> <destination-directory>

And  to unmount;

fusermount -u <mounted-directory>

Here, you can find precompiled  binaries, compiled by me at the system mentioned below; > https://www.osx86.net/files/file/4826-apfs-fuse-driver-linux/

Linux 4.14.71-1-MANJARO #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Sep 20 05:29:20 UTC 2018 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Copy the contents of the "bin" folder to the desired location (usually /usr/local/bin) and of the "lib" folder to /usr/lib/...

Keep in mind that, precompiled binaries may work or not and, I could make tests only at a few distros, so, if you have issues, your only way will be compile the driver from source...

Here's the source files > https://github.com/sgan81/apfs-fuse

You'll find there detailed instructions for proper compilation...

Enjoy your Hack!
