do we have an HCL anymore? i can't seem to find it. i'm thinking of upgrading to an i7 and want the easiest, most compatible motherboard.
  2. a little more searching around on other forums and i found there is an update for sleepenabler.kext. replacing it restored functionality, but my system is still running about 7 degrees hotter.
  3. oops. hadn't updated my sig in awhile. i am using aserebln's booter and i had/have an edited/working DSDT.
  4. when i updated to 10.6.3 my system wouldn't reboot. i figured out that sleepenabler.kext was the problem. upon removing it, i'm back up and running. however, my system also seems to be running 5+ degrees hotter and i sleeping does not work. any suggestions?
  5. has any one gotten dragon age running. it's a port by transgaming technologies, so i think it's using a specialized version of WINE. any help would be greatly appreciated.
  6. not sure why the links are dead. i didn't post them, i found them on the helpful tools page of this forum. email me and let me know what you need and i'll try to get it to you.
  7. install the bootthink on a usb drive. use the kexts from here to place in the proper folders on the usb drive http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?4jzazmdyngm then use the dsdt from this file http://www.efixusers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=357&d=1255734722 and add it the the proper place on the usb drive. (proper places are outlined in a pdf included with the boot think drive). you should now be able to boot into your os x partition.
  8. there's a bootloader for windows for bootthink at this link. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=168500 from there you'd have to put the right kext's in the appropriate files and the dsdt for any ep45 mb should be close enough to get you limping into your leopard install.
  9. sorry, i don't have ubuntu installed on any of my hd's. i'm gonna work on it next week when i have some time off. i'll post if i figure it out.
  10. let me try to edit and put them in chronological order 1. Download these files sl kext.zip (200.0 KB, 13 views) leo.zip (1.27 MB, 19 views) bootfiles.zip (8.3 KB, 16 views)2.download bootthink from here http://rapidshare.de/files/48363962/...8_Mac.zip.html 3. the install program for boothink will guide you through. make sure you install to your usb stick not your hard drive. 4. there's a pdf included in the download that tells you where to stick all the files that you downloaded above. here's the basics. boot files -> Darwin folder root leo kexts -> Darwin/System/Library/Extensions sl kexts -> Darwin/System/LibrarySL/Extensions 5. dowload this iso http://redirectingat.com/?id=292X457...%3Fkhmtjjzgq2j 6. use disk utilities to burn a cd of the iso. 7. set your bios to boot first from usb stick, second from cd, third from hd. 8. leave the usb stick unplugged and put the cd in your drive. 9.it will boot from there, tell you to replace the boot cd with sl dvd. 10. wait till your cd drive light quits blinking. 11. press F5. your sl dvd will show up as a boot option and you use the arrow keys to select it. 12. press enter. from there it's just like a normal install. 13. you won't have full resolution gfx and sound. 14. restart your computer. 15 your bios will be reset to factory defaults and you will have to reset them one last time to the same way you had them set for your efi-x. 16. shutdown and plug in your boothink usb stick and power on. 17. wait for it, wait for it, select your hd from the boothink menu. wait for it, wait for it... you should be in snow leopard. 18. go to system preferences/sound and choose your output device. 19. have a cold beverage and enjoy your new system. 20. write a post and let us know if anything didn't work or that you're a fully satisfied customer. good luck.
  11. we have the same hardware, except i don't have dual cards. here's a guide that i wrote for another person with the same hardware. good luck and if you have any questions or get stuck, feel free to ask. all the files you need are located in the thread.\ oops, forgot to post a link to the thread. http://efixusers.com/showthread.php?t=295
  12. no guarantees on this, but my board did this just before it fried itself for good. hope your's truly is only a software issue.
  13. you could try following the directions in this thread. let me know if and where you get stuck. http://www.efixusers.com/showthread.php?t=295
  14. totally fine to edit the ram information, as far as function of your computer. the sleep issue is strange. here are my two ideas. did you update your mb bios to the latest version? if yes, then the only other thing i can think is that if you have the box checked "wake for ethernet access" that something else on your network is checking in with the mac and keeping it from going/staying asleep. other than that, i'm not sure.
