  1. it is worth trying it out. i started as a beginner and i managed to get my own stick go work perfectly. on another pc i installed chameleon on hdd and it woked very well. maybe you will find a lot of help here in the forum or on insanelymac http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ the only thing is, that you need some time for reading.
  2. Download and install the lates prefpanes to update your efix http://art-studios.net/support/download but I think you can go better with the chameleon bootloader described and used here in this forum. Many users have issues by updating the efix unit. it is very possible to damage your efix during updateprocess ........ Maybe you try out to build your own chameleon usb-stick and you can use your efix- for save. here is a very good guide: http://aserebln.blogspot.com/ start step by step at the end of the page good luck and have fun.
  3. @ AsereBLN, you told so perferctl how to copy a functional chameleon. Thanks a lot. Now I tried out to make a 3. one of my image-file, but it doesent work now for me. I always got this error: dd: /dev/rdisk3s1: short write on character device dd: /dev/rdisk3s1: Input/output error when i type in dd if=Chameleon.img of=/dev/disk3 bs=4k then it comes: dd: /dev/disk3: Resource busy by unmounting it, umount -f /Volume/EFIX, it comes: umount: /Volume/EFIX: not currently mounted How can I solve the problem ? the new stick is formatted as GUI HFS+Journaled. typing al commands under sudo -s the stick is mounted and visible in finder, by unmounting it, it is not possible to write to it - even in terminal. it isalso not listed by*diskutil list I would be very happy if you could help me
  4. If somebody is interested of the contend of rebel-efi cd take a look here: http://teateam.blogspot.com/2009/10/psystar-rebelefi.html please translate with google http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=ru&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fteateam.blogspot.com%2F2009%2F10%2Fpsystar-rebelefi.html&sl=ru&tl=en&history_state0= attached the whole disk
  5. here is a guy who made chameleon together with EFI 10.2 to boot a retail Snow Leopard dvd. it´s unfortunately without sound and very hard to see which folders/files are used to make it happen. maybe somebody could guide us ?
  6. yes you´re right, it an PPPoE modem. i´m not shure, but i think osx terminates the PPPoE. regulary i disconnect i-net manually and reconnect immediatly manually, so i can download the next file from rapitshare or somewhere else. I don´t have poff or pon in my /usr/bin too, and I don´t know how to install them manually - i´m a noob you know... the method discribed in the wiki to that app doesent work for me ( see link in first post). maybe you would like to help me ? do you know the app jDownloader ? it must be configured in the preferences to start/restart the connection to download the files continiously.see screenshot below. maybe a simple script can do the job for me, but I don´t know how to do that. i found one in another forum, but it starts only manually and i have to type in the password of my i-net connection every time. your help for me will be very hight appreciated thank you very much !
  7. Hi Asere, I was hoping you will answer ... thank you very much. it is an arcor dsl-modem connectes via lan directly to my mac-pc. i´ve understand it like this, poff turns internetconnection off and pon connects to provider, isn´t ist like this ?
  8. i´ve connected my dsl-modem to my hackmac and i would like to make a reconnect by using jdownloader. How can i do that ? i found this at the wiki from jdownloader: http://jdownloader.org/de/knowledge/wiki/reconnect/modem sudo su echo "username ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/pon">>/etc/sudoers echo "username ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/poff">>/etc/sudoers and sudo poff dsl-provider sudo pon dsl-provider i´ve changed "username" to my login username and dsl-provider to my named internetconnection under osx. but it doesen´t work. can anybody help me out ? thx a lot
  9. Yes I knew how to do with the boot132 cd, but very often during the bootscreen it is shown a cd symbol on various guides in the www
  10. Is it possible to add a boot option for retail Leopard DVD directly to chameleon ? Like EFII-x does ? What I mean is to integrate boot132 to a chameleon stick ?
  11. if i got a patched DSDT.aml, which .kexts in /E/Extensions are essential for my chameleon for a 100% functioning system (10.5.8)? which .kexts can be dispensed with? what are there differences between 10.6 and 10.5.8, which kexts are needed ? sorry,i tried out the search function without any useful result.
  12. @AsereBLN what does it mean for me ? @elmangomez the white usb-stick ( named "BOOTSTICK_USB" ) in my screenshot is the one i can read and write without problems. the orange one with the name "Generec USB EDC" is the one i can´t mount...........how can I change it ?
  13. I don´t think the stick is faulty - I´m using it to boot OSX every day. Everything is full working. I´m sure I used a single HFS+ partition, GUID partition scheme but not journaled.. It is full funktioning but only visible by the "Festplattendienstprogramm" like in the picture below. Or by using diskutil in terminal. The black signed stick is the hidden one an a 1:1 copy of the red signed. The red one signed is the one to play around and if there´s an improvement it will be copied to the black marked. Is it possible, that only using not journaled is the reason why it is not visible by the finder ?
  14. I´ve made 2 usb sticks: one with chameleon RC2 for my 10.5.8 and one with Bootthink2.3 for my 10.6.1 and 10.5.8 first I thought 10.6.1 is much faster than 10.5.8 but after running Xbench ther are very different results see attached file. Esspecially CPU-Test. The title of Xbench files means: Xbench_HDD-Name_OSX-Version_Bootloader How could it be ? It is all working on the same machine like in my sig.
  15. If you got a working chameleon-usb-stick - not installed chameleon on hdd - try searching "what happens if usb-stick breaks" in this forum. it is shown how to make a 100% working copy of the stick
